hello everyone,

I've seen an article talking about this mode today and I've try it.

But after only 2 minutes, I'm already dead.... : ennemy can see me at 500m behind wall... --' they shot me with an incredible precision in only one bullet or 50 grenad... and i've try hard and easy mode, it's the same...

How it's possible to play this mode whithout dying ?

Thx

USE Q and E keys to only lean part of your body at corners and flank enemies. I presume you have problem with ranger station and that ambush. Just quickly escape after cutscenes, to the nearest cover and from now on you have to pick them one by one.

Edit gamedata\configs\creatures\m_stalker.ltx with these values:

[stalker_vision_free]
min_view_distance   		= 0.3				; êîýôôèöèåíò, êîòîðûé ìíîæèòñÿ íà eye_range, â çàâèñèìîñòè îò óãëà

visibility_threshold = 230.0 ;Threshold in which object becames visible based on factors

luminocity_factor			= 0.30				; ôàêòîð îñâåùåíèÿ (òîëüêî äëÿ Àêò¸ðà)
transparency_threshold	 	= 0.65

These are good values tweaked from my many years working with Stalker.

In gamedata\scripts\axr_misery.script find on_game_load function.

Replace this block:

	if (Config.GetValue("settings","hardcore_ai_aim",1)) then
		local con = get_console()
		con:execute("ai_aim_max_angle 25.0")
		con:execute("ai_aim_min_angle 20.0")
		con:execute("ai_aim_min_speed 2.50")
		con:execute("ai_aim_predict_time 0.28")
	end

With this:

	local con = get_console()
	if (Config.GetValue("settings","hardcore_ai_aim",1)) then
		con:execute("ai_aim_max_angle 25.0")
		con:execute("ai_aim_min_angle 20.0")
		con:execute("ai_aim_min_speed 2.50")
		con:execute("ai_aim_predict_time 0.28")
	else
		con:execute("ai_aim_max_angle 0.7854")
		con:execute("ai_aim_min_angle 0.19635")
		con:execute("ai_aim_min_speed 0.19635")
		con:execute("ai_aim_predict_time 0.44")
	end

Then disabling Hardcore AI Aim should actually work properly

alundaio, are you saying disabling hardcore aim doesn't do anything (or anything significant) without this change?

and btw, thanks for your work that's gone into this mod, even if you're no longer involved

also, those are huge changes e.g. ai_aim_max_angle 25.0
to
ai_aim_max_angle 0.7854
are you sure that's right?

Yes. Disabling it does absolutely nothing if you at one point enabled the feature. The Hardcore AI Aim values were set up to hit moving targets with very high accuracy, so yes, the very low values are correct original values.

Ok so how much worse is enemy aim after applying this patch? Right now with hardcore ai, it's either 5 sec of fight, or F5/F9 torment.

A little thing about enemy AI.

The whole notion of misery is to handle enemies by ambushing them rather then engage headon. If you get spotted the first you got to do is take shelter in shrubs then move to nearby shrubs so you don't get grenaded. Enemies spot you well when they are on a height and you are below. Their sight is however a cone forwards so they don't see you creeping on behind them (unless you keep your light on... or make a lot of noise). I myself got killed plenty of times especially by mercs who have can kill over 100 yards. Sitting behind a rock doesn't make an enemy that spotted you suddenly lose sight of you. They know you are there might see parts of your body sometimes and have a lock on you. This lock makes them now even fire into bushes you hid as they know you are there. When seeing mercs for example fight other stalkers you can see this behaviour easily. You are best choice for an ambush is attacking them with a grenade while they traverse. Or killing some off from bushes and then remaining quiet, after a while they lose track of you and go on their business allowing a second attack. As noted it isn't CoD.

I always play the black road so no armoru and no weapon besides they crap you find early (worn makarov and a knife) and I manage everytime, you have to develop skill and lowering the difficulty only makes you less succesful. As for stalkers with heavy equipment it is more clear that cheap ammo does little on good armour and less on exo. The low pistol ammo is so weak even a headshot isn't fatal, however good ammo IV/V pierce kill even the most armoured stalker, so buy ammo.

Moddb.com check this thread as it is really useful for stalker both beginner and experienced.

No reason to call out or bash people who have legitimate complaints about the difficulty of the mod which is not partly due to design but to bugs, poor design choices by GSC (Shitty AI schemes) and over tweaked configuration settings in m_stalker.ltx or unreasonably balanced AI weapon params. Don't need to be a CoD fan to dislike the difficulty of the mod.

I'd suggest playing the rookie mode then, it was designed for that purpose.

Rookie mode does nothing. Prices are still the same. AI accuracy is still the same, so is mutant behavior. Turning off Hardcore AI does nothing.

I myself find money not the issue, the only trouble I had with cash was the first time I played misery 2.0 and that was cause I was not used to playing using terrain to my advantage. Took me a couple hours to discover not to waste firing much rounds at mutties. With some skill I was able to learn how to use bushes to ambush. learn from dying to allows have a home base saves and more then one save when travelling in the field. I refrain from quicksaves cause they tempt me to make them exposed and nearby enemies. Mutties can be a good money maker especially when you are a sniper who find more animal parts and has the best shotgun skill (shot is really cheap to buy 300 per 10). You can usually kill a muttie with 2 shots and they can drop nada but often drop parts 1 to 6 of them, worth 500-1k each.

Well perhaps it is not for everyone. Besides armour, I only buy ammo, water (for radiation), repair kits, I might at start buy a berette 9k+ as a recon, for a assaulter you can find a good AKM before that time get a cheap 10K rusty AK and maybe buy a sks or gw43 as a sniper for 30k+, you can find a double barrel early on.

I can only say read up on guide and this thread. Moddb.com Here you can find much useful tips for and from experienced players.

Come on especially mercs will always be an issue early on and even late in the game as they have a high military skill in spot even at night and use good weapons with high grade ammo. You got to use smarts for them and trickery again they can't see through bushes well and don't be afraid to flee the battle scene, withdraw into deep cover. Mutties are a problem if you don't move around with an idea of hey there is a rock I can rush too. Buy binoculars they are less then 1k to spot groups is a good issue, you just need to prepare more before you rush from one area to another.

Moddb.com is the game guide for example.

I see plenty of players that can manage and even get to the point of over millions of rubels. I myself get to wealthy client 200k usually in 3 to 6 trips. I am not a top notch player myself but know this some stashes are really lucrative with high end repair kits that sell for a couple thousands each.

No, need to type wall of text for something like that. Rookie Mode doesn't work. End of story.
I'm not being disrespectfull to your time. You enjoy this mod for what it is, good. But I won't because we both have different ideas about balance, difficulty and challenge. Thanks for this though, might be helpfull for someone.
