I've seen NPCs fall to physical mutant attacks, and bullets (from my gun, and those of other NPC's). I've not seen them die to things like a Controller's blast, Psi fields, or an anomaly. Are they completely immune to these damage sources, resistant, am I just crazy?

I ask because I've been traveling in groups a fair amount recently, and there were a few times where I would just die, but my companions would be fine.

I've never really seen any NPC's ever die to Psi attacks from Controllers,Poltergeists or Burers. I've only seen NPC's get killed by the Controller's melee attack, which is rather strange.

NPC's are immune to psi for an obvious reason, the gameplay would mean they always die from emmision field if they get close and the blasts are massive long range, stalkers don't take cover very well. I have seen burers blasting NPC though it is rare as they more often engage in melee. It gives stalkers a fighting edge against the psi mutties else it is always a lose situation.

Yeah, getting close to a controller I seen npc get killed relatively easily by beaten to a pulp. In free play Pripyat the centre often spawns psi mutties with zombies/izloms with monolith in there as well and often monolith does not leave alive.

Avoid using autosaves, use hard saves only.

I believe the game engine designed NPC are not only immune to anomaly or Psi fields, these damage type can not target NPC. I think they did it on purpose for the underground tunnel where NPC team mates have to go through anomaly fields.

Thanks.

I've seen a burer slam the hell out of npc humans before. But that was with objects they chuck at them, not psi directly. Such as the player getting to close and your mind melts, but npc's don't.
