I thought my Iron Forest trip was bad. Holy mother of God one night at Jupiter Plant made Iron forest looks like sunny day at beach.

No idea what kind of spawn script was responsible for the hoards at Jupiter plant, but the list will be hell of shorter if I just tell you what is NOT there. Well there were no rats, which is good. There were no zombies, which is good. No pigs, very good. Well, EVERYTHING else was there. These god damn psyfield from dwarfs and controllers are just unbearable. Blood suckers and paired up with snorks, annoying as hell, while 1 giant was playing with dogs and cats, they figured I am more fun to play with. The only "friendly" face was actually a pair of psudodogs, chasing down cats for me while I was busy with everything else.

When I showed up at Jupiter plant "armed to teeth" and full of drugs, my eyes was wide open in disbelief of what's blocking my way. Wonder if I can find myself a tactical nuke to get through this kind of $#!%.

Yes you guessed. I died, a lot of times. Then I just decided go back to building and take 2 days nap while they sort themselves out.

I had a sick spawn there myself recently. Worse, I was very overloaded because I was intending to carry 100+kg of gear to Pripyat via the fast travel marker (I'd forgotten to talk to Garry in Pripyat before heading back to Yanov, so he wouldn't take me himself... doh).

There was a horde of zombies, easily 20+ in three groups. Swarming over the lip of the quarry came a dozen cats and a curious snork. Three burers came rushing out from somewhere, along with a pack of izloms. Five gray pseudodogs attacked from the Concrete Bath area. This was all on the outside too, before even going through the front gate. Inside there was a quiet stretch leading up to the usual crazy part by the inner entrance, which spawned a pack of bloodsuckers, a pyrogeist, two poltergeists and a chimera.

In a way it was lucky I was overloaded because a large portion of that load was ammo. I burned through seven RPG missiles, a dozen grenades and hundreds of bullets to get through.

Just 3 days back there, I had 2 controllers and a poltergeist, 15 zombies, 4 boar, 1 psy-dog, plus a bloodsucker for party tricks lol XD

Needless to say, you go into the area now with some pills and more ammo ;)

You carry seven RGPs? Damned heavy for me to carry them around. For long range explosives the under barrel grenade launcher is much easier. I only had AEK and Saiga shotgun with me. Not enough ammo for everything so had to retreat.

If I'm using an RPG at all, which I usually only do for fun in certain missions (like the mission 'One Shot' or Uncle Yar's mission), I carry three or four warheads max. In this case I had a ton because I was running mule duty, and ordinarily I wouldn't even have done that. It was sort of forced on me and I just didn't expect the Jupiter Plant to be quite that crazy this time around.

That's the beauty of the Iron Forest and Jupiter Plant though - you never know quite how brutal it's going to be.

Well, on the jupiter backyard, that place behind the fabric, where there's always spawn strong and rare mutants, i always go there to hunt whatever its there. Well, there was something. Before i even reach the metalic doors, i can hear a chimera, and after that the two chimeras jump over to me. I manage to avoid them and start running to the bridge that leads you to the oasis, but nope bandits coming from the other side and soon they saw me they start shooting at me, nor the chimeras on my ass. What can i do? jump the bridge, get some damage, and from the forest, what can be coming my way? Flesh running from a pack of dogs, pseudo dogs, cats, all them coming my way. But im not done, because from the other side, the one coming from the anomaly, the cement one or i dont remember, there was 4 snorks fighting with bloodsuckers and coming my way.

Everything clashed on one point. So i was shoting at chimeras jumping all over the place when dodging some cats and running trough the flesh that where like shields who where going attacked by dogs, when bandits where shoting me and the other mutants. Far away, close the entrance to the jupiter plant, i saw four stalkers walking to where the war was going. I prayed for support, i wished they where or stalker, or duty, or freedom, but nope, they where monoliths and they joined the party.

Funny part, the war didnt even ended because the game crashed and when i loaded the savegame, they spawned on different ways and there where only the chimeras. But man, that was awesome, i was desperate, didnt know what to shoot or where to hide hahaha

How do you guys avoid their jump attacks if there's so many of them while being encumbered by heavy weight ? If iI actually avoid a chimera attack I'm already out of breath and can neither reach a safety of a nearby building, nor can I avoid a swarm of dogs or cats that come after. I die. Always. What's the catch ?

its crazy how different the spawns at the jupiter PP and Iron forest are...this time I had just 2 pseudogiants and some controllers/polter inside the building, piece of cake..I know how fucky that place can be though..

dependent on the types of mutants there are several "safe spots" and routes of attack that worked nice for me so far:

- the tunnel with a dead end (from which you leave the PP building once you inspected the helicopter ect. This is nice if there are chimeras lurking around, but the main area is covered by burers. they will mostly stay in one place, while you can attract the chimeras with a couple of general shots in their direction. If there are poltergeists in the building you WILL be in his aura, so bring some weed. Plant shitload of mines at the entrance of the tunnel and in the area before it. Chimeras will jump around before the gate and you can pick them off if they arent dead already.

- another good place with high rad though is the house where the Tier 2 tools are just in the crack between wall and building. This is a nice spot when there are dogs and cats around, they will spam you from one side and you should be able to pick them off

- best spot is the building in the far back where you pick up some documents (where there is a small video scene)
"normal" mutants will jam trough the one door to get you, so with enough ammo it should be safe. Big mutants like giants, burers ect wont follow you in there for some reason but stroll around the building. Inside you are also definatly safe from chimeras, since they just jump around. This can be hard to reach especially when the place is packed with dogs which slow you down beforehand.

The very best tactic against chimeras are rifle granades, you need 2 for one (same as pseudogiants) however you need to see them coming...if they are close and no buildings at hand stick to a tree. chimera will jump against it, and in the few seconds its "walking around" you can pump it full of led.

for burers also stay behind cover, shot them once, they will put up their shield. they do their thing, stay back ~3 seconds. you can even peek behind cover if you are fully covered the attack wont hurt you. then fire a couple well placed shots in their ugly face, repeat untill dead. same as for controllers. works like a charm, but you always need to see them first.

Bonesetter - You look a touch pale, how about a little injection or two?

I know quite few good spots in there Keks. The problem I had was everything was jammed right before the entrance of the Jupiter plant. The amount of fire power I had was not enough to get me through that kind of gigantic load of crap. Even I kept on stepping back as I fire I got overwhelmed by fast mover like snork and dogs, Chimera was the least of my problem since they are on the far end playing with other things, it was these fast moving 4 legs wanted a piece of me that was the real problem. Too little space, too many of them and they are too fast.

For me it was being ridiculously heavily armed and armoured enough to muddle through the packs outside, and a swig of Hercules to stay at least a bit mobile. I wouldn't recommend it though. I actually stashed a load of stuff in one of the outer buildings temporarily before taking on the inner part of the Jupiter Plant where the chimera was, so I wasn't overloaded for that part. Wish I'd had the sense to invest in a quick release backpack because that would have been a lot easier.

Fighting a chimera while heavily overloaded is really difficult and a lot comes down to luck. If you spot it early, and happen to have a confined/extremely high spot nearby to retreat to, then you should be alright. Chimera sometimes get easily distracted too. Most times I see a chimera it's actually already attacking other stalkers.

That's pretty unlucky. Often those mutants there will only chase the player for a short distance before heading back. I know the dwarfs that spawn there will chase you to the ends of the earth but the snorks and bloodsuckers always seem to turn back about half way down that road.

Thought I can maneuver through the area between entrance and repair building, where the excavator is. Turns out it is completely swarmed with mutants. That area are usually pretty clean other than few rad spots. These spawns are just down right one sided.
