I have played this great mod for a few days now and finally got the coveted KSVK which I am loving. I have spent a few good hours trying to make a few tweaks to this rifle which, in my opinion, make it more fun and realistic in the game and I decided to share them with you in case you find the following changes to your liking as well.

Firstly, it seemed that the rifle as hand held in the first person view was a bit too far back so you could only see a part of the scope. I have changed the position and brought the rifle forward a bit so you can see more of it and whole of the scope. See the pics below.

OriginalModified

I would also move the left supporting hand further up the barrel to open up the barrel and reduce the part of the hand that you can see on the screen for better visual of the weapon but I think that involves editing actual hand textures and I don't know how to do that.

Secondly, I have increased the rifle's damage and impulse in relation to M24 to correspond to real correlation between the muzzle energies of 12,7x108mm and 0.338 Lapua Magnum rounds. I have also increased its scope magnification by a third as it felt that it didn't have enough zoom for its effective firing range (which is e.g. greater than the firing range of M24 which in turn has greater zoom in the mod and it doesn't seem right).

You can download the w_ksvk.ltx containing these tweaks here and replace the one in gamedata/configs/weapons of your game with this one making a back-up just in case.

I think its handled like that because it is very heavy rifle. The character hold it like a machinegun with a handle, but there is no handle there so it looks quite weird.

I think you may have confused one picture with the other. The one above is what it looks like in the original game. I don't think it was made out of considerations of realism but simply because this rifle is very long with the scope positioned far at the back, so if you bring out the entire scope (like I did), the end of the rifle is almost reaching the middle of the screen. I still like it better that way but some players will find that it is taking too much screen space that way.

For me, the upgrades for the scope don't work, specifically the first one which increases the zoom. How should I change the upgrade file to allow all the scope upgrades to be independent from each other. I just don't understand why I would have to put high contrast on the scope, only to later be allowed to change it to adjustable sights or night vision.
