Because it's different than the others 'boring' weapons.

There is no contest, imo. Once you add adjustable sights, nothing compares to how useful an FN2000 is...and once you add the heat detector, even more so. But the weapons is well balanced because its very very hard or expensive to find one: I found one on Zaton (a random NPC carried one), and found no reason to use any other weapon whatsoever, if not because of the fact that you need a weapon for 5.45x39mm ammo.

AKM of course! It is balanced not junk but not OP unless you invest a lot of money in it.
Good power, good accuracy(Use single fire! Russian soldiers were supposed to use auto fire only to supress enemy and only at point-blank range)
and after adding silencer and NSPU-3 it is great for night hunting .

PS: But at least for me it is too rare, I've encountered it maybe 5 times on bandits in one play.

SKS all the way! Semi-auto allows for both precision and rounds downrange, and the cartridge is powerful. I wish the front sight post was thinner, though.

@DesiQ - The SKS is a Battlerifle, aka a Sniper / DMR rifle.

Ah, well I guess that's ok seeing how it wasn't because you forgot it or something.

Abakan does everything well and with easy to find ammo. I like the sights too.

Any gun is good for a true STALKER but i think its a G3hkc or how is it named

I like AN-94 but I have not tried all the other weapons yet.

AEK-973 is awesome!

For me its tied between the Cobra, simply because it looks like the gun I see in loading screens, or the Modified AK74u you get out of Snag's car box. That thing shoots good.

I usually use the modded AK74u as soon as i break snag's box open the common ammo makes it great for begginig of the game. its very good and accurate and treats me well until i get my hands on strelok's rifle, which is even better.

P.S i would love to get my hands on all the other beautiful weapons added by this mod but the cost is often prohibitive... having not tried all the guns i can only say which ones i have found to be my fav's.. they are not neccisarily the best

Im loving the Stg44, Seams pretty good, but it loses its condition relativity fast it seams :/

Wishing all the guns had their proper ammo types though, I mean a TT33 using 9x19? O.o

CAN anyone please tell me where can i get the XM8 camo assualt rifle? i have searched every single stash found other weapons but not xm8. Please its not even seen in the hands of Master stalkers...??/ something wrong with the spawn or what?

XM8 is not found at a specific place. It is a rare weapon in the hands of masters. Search in Pripyat

Why is the Ak47 called the Ak74? I know there is an Ak74u but no gun just called Ak74. It looks like an Ak47 too ingame

Just because Aaroe/Teh Snake textured the AK-74 like an AK-47 doesn't means it's really is an AK-47...

In any case, it's a legitimate AKS-74, look at the muzzle compensator and the folding stock, AK-47s don't have that, only AK-74s have...

FN FAL Para- so good. Lethal, accurate, expensive to fire. Comes with your choice of heavy duty grenade launcher or the freedom to shoot silent with adapter kits (sold separately)

But seriously I love it for two reasons- It's a great gun and it's a self imposed nerf. You almost never find the ammo on dead stalkers so you're forced to purchase expensive ammo and make every shot count even in the later stages of the game. That's the reason why the hobo stage is so fun. You have to be so strategic in the expenditure of your assets that every shot counts. Sometimes, sometimes it is just cheaper to volley a M203 than try to get the perfect headshot.

I vote for H&K XM8...Pity its avaliable only in freeplay... Stats of this assault rifle arent that high...
Fal para is much stronger and fast shooting and you may get this in Yanov already.
I hope in Misery 2.0 its going to be changed.

Isn't the VSS Vintorez technically a Sniper Rifle?

Speaking of that, is it only the assaulter that profits from the AS Val and the VSS Vintorez?
