Many people may not know this, even I didn't at first as I was searching for a way of brightening nightvision to no avail. But the AtmosFear base settings can modify your nighttime experience including when using nightvision, I just thought I'd share how to edit this.

Go into your installation directory, go to- installation directory\gamedata\configs and look for the "atmosfear_parameters.ltx" file.

Now open the file with whatever it is you use, I use Notepad++. And look for this strand-

opt_night_brightness = slight ; brightness of the nights. Possible settings: dark, slight, medium, bright.

changing the = slight, into something like = bright will make nights MUCH brighter and easier to see sometimes depending on moon phase even without nightvision or flashlights. While changing it to dark will make it even darker than the base value. I personally like to use medium, this way nightvision and flashlights still work, but your base vision range at night will still be crap without a light source or nightvision, which keeps the game balanced. And this can be a big deal when using dark road with the sunlight damage only being able to go out at night.

Thanks for the info. Do you know how to make weather less rainy? It seems we are not in the zone anymore, instead misery take place in british islands :/
I would like to see more of that clear, full of stars nights.

Hmmm... Slight is too dark, and medium too bright for me. I wish there was a step in between those sets. Also a new game start is necessary to make the changes happen.

What does this setting exatly do ? Can I modify it manually in another file, because I want to make "medium" a little darker!

Disregard the nonsense I said. Medium is perfectly fine, I just had to lower gamma value one notch, and now it is perfect.
