Are there any problems associated with installing Dark Mode (daytime radiation), playing it, freaking out, uninstalling, reinstalling normal mode, and continuing your saves? Apart from being a pussy?

I understand NPCs were modified heavily due to the reality that they also shouldn't be out at night etc. and it has occurred to me that my game might still have these changes implemented.

Basically, I've noticed quite a decline in NPC traffic in 2.1 and also very few hostile zones i.e. the Zaton Ranger Station and Jupiter Army Checkpoint (post-Vano) are deserted and no one ever goes there. Is this supposed to be like this in 2.1? Previously they were both like Bandit/Merc fort Knox...

A dark mode save doesn't work with regular mode and vice versa.

Stalkers move around a lot more then sit idle at bases. The ranger station is easily 4/5 times empty when you come there. The bandits move through the swamps or over the pathway leading to the cranes for example and you can miss them when you have a hill between you and them.

The checkpoint is the same matter until you been to pripyat, then monolith activity starts showing up at jupiter in those parts and they often have a 3 men team sitting at the guard post, easily half of the time. Especially the factory grounds can get crowded with usually 1-4 monolith squads.

Cheers though my saves work fine. Got as far as the Morgan mission then copped out, and went back to normal mode, reinstated my save game folder, loaded up, and haven't havent had any issues. There's a stream of loot, er I mean bandits/Mercs make their way from workshops to ranger station, stopping at various points. Is that normal then?

Bandits often stop at the parking lot or the scar and only the boat if Noah is dead.

When I tried my dark mode save on a regular mode I got weather related crashes, maybe they fixed that?

I do get crashes...typing this now cause a duty guy got shot and, well, crashed. But I haven't had anything repetitive or gamebreaking. Yeah that's what the bandits do in my game too so sounds normal, although I've been playing at night today and I've found Freedom and Duty travelling a lot at night, hence the crash just now. Oh and FYI I found a Freedom squad en-route to the Army checkpoint so I went with them and the met a Duty squad :) £££

But just incase, what kind of crashes were you getting? Were they constant? I assume when I crash it's NPCs or whatever, but could it be the weather?

They were constant but this was very much in the early stage of the dark mode, we are talking test phase. If you pass a blowout and you have no issues I guess you are in the clear.

Some crashes are mesh related often with pseudo giants or grenades. Can also be memory there too many of them, thats what the log is for in your docs.
