I have choosen a generally name to save you new threads for similar topics.
As we all know misery walks on the narrow path between realism and fun. But yet its balance aint as smooth as it could be for the most of its players. Lets start with sonething simple.

Now straight to the first point:

A jamming shotgun. Shotguns are reliable guns. A possible jamming is mostly caused by a blind shell and we Stalkers are fine with that. But then... hey! What is this? Another one?

Double barreled shotguns have two seperated barrels, shells and firingmechanisms (even the beretta 682 over-under shotgun). For this reason I suggest to let the responsible script work twice on a full loaded, doublebarreled shotgun. This would give those guns a higher value and advanced players would appreciate them a bit more instead of exchanging em with a half\full automatical shotgun. Misery tells us "all weapons have their strenghs and weaknesses". Lets make them clear.

If I follow you, you mean that double-barrelled shotguns that jam should still be able to shoot the second barrel since there's a seperate trigger/barrel?

I thought he was initially trying to say that a simple action double-barrel (sidexside or over/under) should almost NEVER jam.

Drengor has it. Realistically of course, they do not jam in reality. But then weapons firing hundreds of rounds in a row without a jam suddenly dropping to the ground and becoming bent (~15% condition) an not being able to fire more than one round without jamming, is highly unrealistic.

Guns tend to start jamming at 85% and some better quality ones like custom/camo around 75% of their quality. The zone isn't a clean shooting ground, you crawl through humid marsh, shrub, have your weapons exposed to elements, it rains half of the time. This makes weapons quicker prone to wear and tear. Have you taken a shotgun on a quick chase through a ukranian swamp? Weapons get much wear and tear in wartime. You don't cherish your gun as you would at the shooting range and if it gets dirty so what, its a tool not your baby. :P

The mechanics of allowing one barrel to fire, while the other is jammed might need a total new script. Question is how high is the priority. I honestly can't care less about double barrels, there are more important things to work on. I think solving the riddle of bugs that came from poor scripting in the vanilla version is more important.

Do find it illogical a gun gets damage when dropped from a height if they go from 100 to 15%. Though if they are knocked from your hand by a pseudodog sinking its teeth in it... They have canines like wolves and hyenas and can easily bent a barrel. If you dropped it cause a stalker shot it directly, well what happens if a rifle gets hit by a bullet? I'd have to test it :)

I have done some durability testing with weapons, when I was a Class III dealer (FFL), and you would be EXTREMELY surprised at the results....

I took a few weapons, all except the two DD were brand new never used and while ranging hugely in price they were all the "real deal" (all select-fire, most short-barrel), directly "off the rack" for this: an LWRC M6-IC-SPR 12.7" (spiral-fluted 12.7" barrel with 1-piece "mono-forged" upper receiver/rail system assembly; only changes I made were Troy BUIS, Magpul AFG, and a different FH), Daniel Defense Mk18 Mod0 (10" DD barrel w Wilson Combat drop-in trigger assembly select-fire model, EOTech E-XPS3, Magpul CTR, Tangodown Battlegrip, BCM Gunfighter charging handle, Noveske KX3 flash suppressor for use without the GemTech G5-T, Tangodown VFG, Surefire 45* canted iron sights), SIG Sauer 516 (14.5", EOTech E-XPS3-0, Surefire suppressor-ready muzzle device, Troy BUIS), Ruger SR556 (14.5" barrel w Ruger adjustable gas piston system, Magpul CTR stock, Tangodown Battlegrip/Foregrip, DD Tactical Free Float RIS II, Magpul PMAG II), Saiga 12-K (10.5" bbl, factory select-fire trigger assembly/synthetic pistol+forward grips, forged aluminum AKS-type folding stock w rubber pad, full-length optics rail), factory-original AKS-74MP (shortened barrel and designed for use with suppressor; sight rail, contoured pistol grip, modular foregrip with 2"/4"/6" modular rail sections, adjustable gas block, forged aluminum "triangle" side-folding stock w adjustable LoP via stack-able rubber pad spacers, Kobra 2-MOA red dot/reflex sight, all-black 30 and 45 round magazines, I did some custom work on the trigger to adjust weight to 3.8lb and make it smooth rather than the usual "sand in the trigger" feel, and a Soviet PBS-5 sound suppressor), Springfield M14 (16" "SOCOM II" variant but with the barrel swapped for a National Match 16" unit, VLTOR modular weapon stock with barrel glass-bedding done by the factory, modular front lightweight rail system, Aimpoint T1 Microdot with 3x magnifier, custom trigger work), and a parts-build .300 Blackout AR SBR/SF (10.4" Noveske bbl, 11" DD RIS II, AAC Suppressor, LWRC Forged Upper/Lower, WT Trigger Assembly, Tangodown Battlegrip, 30rd window-style PMAG 2's, BCM Gunfighter charging handle, Magpul CTR stock and M.A.D., EOTech EXPS3 w 3x FTS Magnifier on LWRC quick-release mounts, Troy HK-style folding BUIS and VFG, Surefire weaponlight, etc).

There were others, and this was not all done at once.

The worst I saw from an AR-15 was a failure after enduring:
- 10 drops, 2 each from 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 feet heights onto concrete
- Firing a consecutive 20 full magazines without stopping, on full-auto (that's 600 rounds in mag-dumps as fast as possible; I can reload an AR in about a second, and ROF ranged from 2.4 to 2.8 seconds to empty each magazine)... by the end, the barrel would be glowing orange... then fire another 600 rounds over the course of a week. NO CLEANING OF THE WEAPON AT ALL BEFORE OR AFTER
- Literally filling the barrel with mud then firing (3 times)
- Firing after the rifle sat in a salt water bath for 1 month, literally take out and fire immediately (using the ammunition in the weapon's magazine, also soaked); discharging the entire 30 round magazine in 10 single shots, and then 20 rounds FA
- Driving over the rifle with my '06 M3 (3118lbs) 5 times
- Driving over the rifle with a Dodge Ram (~3 tons) 5 times
- Driving over the rifle with a 12,850lb vehicle 3 times
- SHOOTING the rifle with a 16-inch barrel .22WMR (Winchester Magnum Rifle - significantly more powerful than .22LR) 5 times in the receiver
- Shooting the rifle w Benelli M1014 16.5" shotgun 3 times using #5 Birdshot
- Again with #8 Buck
- Again with #4 Buck
- Again with 00 Buck
- Shooting the rifle with my Sig P226 MK25 9mm using 147gr +P+ rounds
- Again with subsonic 179gr 9mm rounds through GemTech suppressor (1030fps)
- Shooting the rifle with my Sig P226 Tactical in .357 SIG using 165gr JHP +P+
- Again with subsonic handload 180gr SJHP through GemTech can (1055fps)
- Shooting the rifle with SV Infinity custom double-stack 1911 .45ACP using 230gr +P+
- Shooting the rifle with a genuine M4 SOCOM II 5.56 NATO using M855A1
- Shooting the rifle with a Springfield M14 (not M1A) 7.62x51 NATO using hand-loaded Match Grade rounds (260gr semi-jacketed hollow tip boat-tail with tungsten core, custom powder mix resulting in 2,795fps)

After every test, the weapon was visually inspected for any damage that could result in a catastrophic misfire, and then immediately was fired 5 times to see if it functioned, and then 4x 5rnd groups shot at 50 yards without touching the optics or changing the zero.
After all of the above, the "worst" rifle had it's POI shifted 5.1 inches at 50 yards and suffered 3 FTE's out of 30 rounds. But it still functioned and was shooting 3.8 MOA!

What finally did in the first "failure"?

Shooting the rifle 3 times with my Accuracy International AWSM .338 Lapua Magnum firing 300gr Lapua Scenar SJBTHP's at 3000fps. This is a rifle that will fire this round, especially this type of match-grade ammunition, through the same hole consistently at 300 yards, and the bullet remains supersonic until well beyond 1.5 kilometers!

The others were all done in by either the CheyTac M200 in .408 Chey, or if surviving that, one of the .50BMG chambered rifles I had then.

The AK('s) and AR's were about equivalent in reliability. Keep in mind, over 2200 rounds fired through each weapon, not a single time were they ever cleaned. NOT ONCE.

So, when I see a weapon jam after a hundred or so rounds, no, it does not seem very realistic. Nor does it breaking after a 10ft fall.
