Can someone tell me if artifact hunting is profitable at all? Thus far I'm not really seeing any. Not to mention you have to have the LLMC for each and every one, unless you want to get irradiated. The fields usually require very high anomalous protection, I thought of buying the green suit but it's so god damn expensive!

So the question is again, should I even bother? Playing as an assaulter.

In unmodified Misery, I did not see any value to it except for filling Beard's requests - and even then killing a bunch of mercs/bandits is more profitable and about as dangerous. So no, not really. The fake artifacts they put into the game (Kevlar, Camelback, etc) are supposed to make up for it, when combined with all the new drugs.

With a cs3 armor and okay helmet you can carry 6 radiation artefact and it takes 30 minutes to get radiation that drains health. I never buy an orange suit (green is not available' and instead go in with 3 fire artefacts like fireballs and later eyes, usually with 2-3 eyes I'm fire immune unless hit by flames.

I prefer the fireball/eye cause they have a higher def then steel plates, reduce bleeding and have fire resistance. I have not that many weight issues, cause I'm always pepped up when running the fields. :P With a recon I wear 3 eyes and 1 snowflake, again weight isn't that much of an issue. The snowflake raises my psy by 111% and about 40% stamina ;)

Camelback and plates can't hold a candle to it. I always sell found damaged weapons to other stalkers on the road, stalkers pay about 65-75% of the price beard does. :O

Artifact hunting is not profitable. Unless you want a really low profit margin.
Usually you won't find any high tier artifact through the game. I don't count the artifact you loot from corpses, because in one playthrough i had a luck to find 2 eye artifacts by looting. Maybe after freeplay artifact spawns are changed[i doubt it].

Nyayr, the problem isn't radiation itself because some suits can handle it, the problem with radiation is when you want to sleep. I understand you play recon on cocaine, so probably you sleep after a whole week ingame, but i've been playing dark mode lately, and radiation is really pain in the ass when you want to go to sleep. In darkmode artifact hunting is even less profitable i would say it's unprofitable, because you lose money for batteries, suit damage from anomalies and both mutants, also you need to eat foot because artifact hunting locations are quite distant[swamps, circus].

I sell artefacts I don't want to keep to stalkers on the road and beard should pay better cause in the end game a firefly is like 16k sold to beard himself and not 10.3k, scientists even pay like 20-25% more. Beard should pay more like 20k a pop for them in my view. You can start finding high end artefacts when you visited all the anomalies and got that pioneer perk, that makes a big difference. You do got to visit all anomalies (also for example that one near jupiter factory with the electricity in the attic). A visit luckily is not getting to the centre, by the circus for example you only need to be in the light hot area. My lastest run I only found crap until I got my pioneer perk, the best being 2 fireballs and after a blowput I got an eye now.

I play all my classes on epinefrine, especially for an assaulter it last long 60min+ Still need to sleep as somehow items that suppose to reduce sleep do not reduce it when you get hazy views from stimpacks etc, I never seen sleep reduce items work properly. Assaulter I sleep 2-3 hours a day, recon 1-2 hours, a sniper can sleep 2 hours per 2 day, that is without using items that cause sleepiness, booze is a massive sleepinducer. :P I carry aqvatabs and lucky strike cigarettes both weight 0.00 and both remove more radiation that rad away or whatever it is called.

I agree, the dark mode is difficult cause it cuts you 24 hours day/night into a 7 hour night, reducing your progress by 70%. Dark mode is best suited for a recon in my view, since he deals with hunder/radiation the best and has a sneak edge, especially at night and fights better short ranged. I got no patience to wait out 16 hours to play dark mod... I would hunt with a shotgun mutties as that is really economical, here a sniper has the best value cause he finds more parts.

Ending yes artefacts might need a value tweak, especially the low end that now sell for 1200... sparkler, or better yet give an option to trade low/mid end artefacts for supplies, like a sparkler for 2 medikits with a total worth of like 3.5k. You can always use those things.

Yeah that would be good idea. And about sparklers, right they are frigging cheap. And i don't understand why so cheap, there is one place where you can get them easily and it's iron forest. Other places like scar anomaly need v.high psy protection, and parking lot anomaly need very high radiation protection. So you still need investment in gear, and in scar you get 2xsparklers mostly, that's just bullshit. I don't count pripyat, because in anomalies on that location, there aren't sparklers, but higher tier artifacts, but who need money in pripyat.
