So, not sure if there is a thread about this already or not, please delete this thread if there is.
How exactly does one wear armor or clothing "Proficiently". How does this work, exactly? like how do you wear something better than someone else?

Well, the Recon being a scrawny runt is probably uncomfortable in an exoskeleton. And similar.

Assaulters have big sturdy frames that can bear the weight of heavy body armour more easily than the smaller Snipers and Recons. Ecologist suits on the other hand, which are designed for skinny-ass scientist civvies, are a tight and uncomfortable fit.

Assaulters have also probably done lots of physical training in Bulats and Berills, over assault courses and on cross-country runs, so they're used to moving around in them.

Yeah, but is that really going to shatter the face mask and break the filters, as well as just overall tear the suit apart during a single day causing repairs that cost about $10,000 ? i know that it has the potential to destroy it more when facing the wear and tear of an anomaly, but just walking around and the thing on sheds $500 every 15 in game minutes? Really? (currently playing assaulter with the armored ecologist suit)
sorry for the late reply, forgot about the forum during school.

Don't repair your suit unless it has low damage for $ like 90-95 anything below that use sewing kits with cloth or animal skin, if you want to be economic. the cheapest kits are 85+ but often you might carry the 75+ version. Put a kit in a quick slot like F2 and you can check how damaged your suit is, or better yet do it with a high end glue that fixes from 60% to also see your headwear. You easily find a few repair kits in stashes around Skadovsk.

Duct tape is cheap and lightweight too and make sure to carry a hammer/crowbar or swiss knife to add 3 or 2% fix bonus on all gear.

Avoid using autosaves, use hard saves only.

From the last time I looked, the 'proficiency' is primarily ergonomic... how much stamina drain is incurred for wearing that armor.

For non-assaulter, the big heavy armors are more draining.... for non-recon the fully enclosed suits are more restricting...

Actually, the ecologist suit is sh*t even for Recon (which has high proficiency for it). I get better stamina with a low proficiency upgraded Cs3. So don't bother too much about armor proficiencies as long as you feel good in it. Weapons proficiencies impact more, as the scrolling speed, which can be annoying.

Heck, I still jog around in my Heavy Over Coat combined with a Sphere12.

You only need more than this if you plan on being a bullet magnet or going through the zone as a arty hunter. Since most of my cash flow comes in by hunting and stash looting...I suppose I'm a bit of a thief/hunter in my game XD

Although to be fair, I tend to max out a decent gun and drop it for a Stalker I see staying alive. Personally, that is my favorite part. Seeing a hearty band of stalkers able to keep alive. I even felt pretty bad when one group got killed after a week of playing =(

Oh well.

Maybe dirt, filth and radioactive dust clog up the filters and mechanical parts.

Honestly I haven't found suits just randomly degrading though.

Well, Crap. as for repairing. if it gets even around half way damaged it costs more than a new suit so screw that. and i have never seen a sewing kit before. ive seen repair kits but i can never afford them. then again i almost have no money to do anything with and get my equipment from the dead. nowadays i hardly ever put on anything suit-wise except for when i need to go through heavy radiation or hunting for facts about Artie.

See that's why I increased the artifact prices for enjoyable play through. At least if I survive the artifact trip I will end up with some profit in my pocket for upgrade and repairs.

Yeah, but you know what they say. Struggle makes you stronger.
except when the struggle is because of random ass bullshit like your suit falling apart simply because of the fact you are wearing it. and stray bullets. and artifacts getting stuck in the hitbox of the ground in the anomaly filled caves under the burnt farmstead to the point where you can see two right within your undeniable grasp and can see their name but cant grab them because your grab command keeps landing on the hitbox of the earth instead of on the hitbox of the artifact which is stuck within the earth's hitbox and just have to sit there and be pissed off because there is jack shit you can do about it.
There were five artifacts in that cave. each stuck inside the ground's hitbox.

After a year of Misery black road playthrough, i decided to start a new game with new rules to make the game harder. I now allow myself to sell items only to NPCs, not to traders anymore. It´s 3k rub per sell maximum then and the NPC has to die to allow a new NPC with money to join the zone party. This slows down so much my financial progress... But I still get wealthy. So you must definitly do something wrong about the way you treat your suit on the battlefield/in anomalies ;-)

Try to be more careful during fights and get under cover all the time. Also, learn each single item in beard/owl inventories, you need to understand the repair process in Misery. Good luck

Sewing kits are sometimes in stalkers dead piles, though not often but you best buy them from owl or beard. As stated the cheapest sewing kit has 4 uses and costs around 4-6k it fixes 6% of an armour that is 85% or better, add a pseudo dog skin and you get 5% bonus so it fixes for 6+5=11%. Read up on the forum there are several places with tons of hint and tips.
