Why woud ANY game/mod wnat to take steps away from steam...
Steam is just... like... PERFECT.
Steam is not perfect for mod developers. There is very little support for mods. We have emailed Valve four times and they have yet to get back to us, so we're taking matters into our own hands until they take the intuitive to approach us.
We're not getting rid of using Steam.
Like .Echo said We're not looking to get away from STEAM or replace it.
But still STEAM is far from perfect.

As good as this sounds, it seems like a different version of steam without other games. I personally will never use this because steam I know will be better and it has my other games to play, also taking up less space and steam keeps everything into one, Friends who are playing, Servers that are running, Group updates...ect.
We aren't seeking to replace Steam because we certainly don't have the time nor resources to do that, however we do want to give fans the option of using a custom program by Agent Red Productions that will give them access to everything related Situation Outbreak at the click of the mouse, including updates and whatnot. Seeing as Steam has not replied to our many emails, I see no reason why folks would not be willing to install a supplemental program to go along with Steam if they are truly dedicated to this modifications. Again, it's totally optional to use, too.
so its like a laucher for "So" thats ok steam needs to allow mods to be download from steam like zombie panic. but i gues they are to lazy to do so when there is no money to make by doing so.
Yes, however it isn't a launcher for Situation Outbreak, only an optional tool for updating SO automatically, getting announcements from developers, etc. You are correct about the poor mod support though, which is why Jordan created this program in the first place.
I rather sugest to wait for public Desura.
Indeed, I will have a talk about joining Desura when it comes out, however even Desura cannot do the things our program can and it isn't specific to Situation Outbreak.
Plus desura only allows mods on there if they have no stolen content what so ever.
Echo you think maybe theres a reason there not responding to you? I'm going to take a guess and say they keep up with whats going on Mod Db and have seen this mods past
For your information, I have never explicitly asked to participate in the Desura project.
In any case, I've actually talked the situation over with Henley and with his help we have identified what needs to be done in order to get this mod clean of illegal content. v1.61 will be the free of this content, putting us on the map and in line for a spot on Desura. It's nice to deal with people who know what they're talking about for a change and who present evidence in an efficient, professional manner.
