Since the generous release of the 0.79c2 source-code from the developers of the Doom source port Skulltag, I have been busy porting a version of ScoreDoom (originally built on GZDoom) to use the Skulltag source, and I finally have a very stable beta out. Called ScoreDoomST, it is identical to ScoreDoom game-play wise, except there are some small changes with the add-on pack content, as well as taking advantage of some of Skulltag's multiplayer features.
ScoreDoomST was built to take advantage of Skulltag's client-sever netcode for better internet co-op play.
Summary of ScoreDoomST specific features
- Proper Client-server support, for browsing and hosting internet games, as well as more efficient netcode for internet play.
- Players can compete not only to get the highest score for the end of the episode/finale (i.e. E1M8/MAP30 etc...), but also the first to reach a point-limit, or to get the highest score across all the maps in a map-rotation.
- Player voting allowed: kick, changemap, point-limit.
- Its own add-on pack which has virtually all the monsters and artifacts from the regular ScoreDoom add-on pack, as well as Skulltag specific artifacts like 'Spread', 'Double Firing Speed' & 'High Jump' etc...
- Other Skulltag features.
Please see the ScoreDoomST link above to find out where to leave any feedback (bugs etc...). If playing with the add-on pack is causing problems, playing without it should be a lot more stable. The master server for the beta is currently down, but I hope to have it up by tomorrow.
