Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

By my oppinion, RA3 came out as a big dissapointment. The Soviet style - was so twisted and srewed, that there wasn't a trace of it's own beauty. And the Japs with all-plastic stuff... Seriously... The russians here are the original Soviet-style keepers - elegant and sinister. So, I, personally, don't see anything wrong with any RA presence in ROTR. Furthermore - these guys are repairing the damage done to otherwisely fine game, and even combine it with another awesome one.
Personally, I hated RA3 when I tried it out. That, and the fact that RA3 unit designs were far more cartoonist and stupid (seriously??! a walking boat with Tesla guns and japenese transformers on steriods) than the legend its predecessor had (RA1/RA2) even with limited graphics it had amazing fast paced gameplay.
Aye, brother! Exactly my thoughts! The developers take their time, but, hell, they combine the finest stuff from many games into one fabulous project - the ROTR! The original soviet style, the cheetah(taken as inspiration from SC2), and total diversity, that allows you to balance in many different ways, according to your own idea of playing.
When 1.85 gets out in years, I'll be the happiest old man ever!
Still hoping to see the GLA recycler truck in a stream, sooner rather than later... :( It's the only new unit left for 1.85 that we have yet to see in action, right?
@ darthcrevette : no, we still have not seen the new US Hunter-Killer drone. I cant wait to see it, to me its the coolest new unit.
Hunter-Killer has been snown a couple om times already, watch streams to find it.

Um Scud, the Heavy Sniper was already planned a long time ago before the release of 1.8 version. They must have included the Heavy Sniper in the next version along with the new infantry from other factions in order to make infantry a much more viable option than just spamming tanks and attack.
meh maybe the insurrection mob just needs a new menu picture thats all really maybe a new weapon sound or all together new weapons like RPG at full group and only AK 47 or pistols as a small group you know

Правильно говорит чел сверху: хочешь реализма - играй в Cold War Crisis. Да и вообще - в Генералах столько условностей, что эти две ракеты кажутся сущей фигней (и от них никуда не денешься - Спектр идеально подходит на роль GP 5 для авиационно-ориентированной USA). И если сделать реальный урон оружия, то баланс пойдет нахер, геймплей пойдет туда же. Мне тоже кажется, что сверхзвуковой Ту-160, летящий медленнее дозвукового Спектра и ГЛАшных самодельных самолетиков смотрится нелепо. Но мод не о реализме, так что фиг бы с ним. Единственное с чем согласен - насчет адамантиевого вертолета у командного центра (хотя BlackHawk тоже шибко живучий).
The man above speaks right: if you want realism - play Cold War Crisis. And in general - there are so many conventions in the Generals, so this "two missiles what destroy a tank" convention seems sheer garbage (and they will stay for a long time - because Spectre is ideal for the role of GP 5 for airforce-oriented USA). And if you make a weapon damage as big (or as small) as in RL, the balance will go **** itself, the same for the gameplay. I'm agree that the supersonic Tu-160 flying slower than subsonic Spectre and GLA's homemade airplanes looks ridiculous. But ROTR is not about realism, so hell with it. The only thing I agree with - the adamantium helicopter at the Region Command (BlackHawk is also too tough though).
Ничего не говорю, полного реализма добиться не удасться, но такой бред совсем бред и бросается в глаза сразу же и мне лично очень трудно сделать скидку на то что мод ориентирован как expansion(что бы это не означало). Это только моё мнение, я его высказал.
I will not argue, complete realism can not be achieved, but this nonsense is evident right away and I am personally very hard to make allowances for the fact that the mod-oriented as expansion (whatever that meant). This is just my opinion, I voiced it.
why people dont use long range defence as offence espacially eca(rotr) and superweapon general(contra mod and remix escalation mod)?
If your referring about ECA Howitzer Positions and Mortar Pits not being used as offense against enemies, the answer is in the question itself, DEFENCE. ECA strategy is all about bunkering in, tech up, hitting the assaulting enemy with long range bombardments (howitzers and mortars) behind a massive wall of defences. While the enemy has their army decimated by your defences and their eco trying cope with the losses, that is the perfect moment to strike with you own army(and protocol units) you have built while defending your base. Although you could still use Howitzer Positions and Mortar Pits to assault the enemy(via forward outposts), its pretty much a hassle trying to build them. That is why you have Mortar Tracks, Pandora and Claymores(next version) for the job of long range mobile artillery.
