Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.
The GLA Interceptor has been given a complete visual overhaul as well. Formerly based on a fictitious concept, it is now modelled after the Su-17 'Fitter' which was exported to Soviet client states in Africa and the Middle East. The new Interceptor will also be functionally different in that its default armament now consists of two externally mounted 30mm autocannons and UB-32 rocket pods. The rocket pods can be replaced with guided missiles for precision strikes or free-fall bombs for high-explosive area damage.

I like this one way better than the original, whose heart was in the right place but didn't seem at all realistic. This one looks absolutely beautiful and deadly.

We keep calling it the Interceptor because it simply sounds less technical than 'fighter-bomber'. Plus, the GLA is nuts, they wouldn't even be aware of such distinctions. They would use any military-looking aircraft available to engage any kind of target, whether the aircraft is actually made for that purpose or not.
Too true. They'd probably send stolen Osprey's with light machine guns on the back to dogfight Raptors and Harriers
GLA doesn't have anything better to fill interceptor role so they use fighter/bomber for it.

I'm guessing this is one of the few GLA units to not have varied models? Any other fightercraft that came through your mind when picking a new Interceptor model?

Flying with the old school style
I love the old design, because it made GLA airforce more unique than in other mods. Seriously, this hand-made "look, it can fly and even shoot!" style was comic, but individual, while in other mods GLA airforce was just another old Soviet stuff. Now you have old Soviet stuff too. It fits the lore better, but style-wise it is worse than the old concept, IMHO.

Well, they could use the old models to fill another role, or maybe be the aircraft of another GLA faction, who knows?
Maybe they could replace those planes from that suicide planes special power, what's the name, Sky watch or something

Will the interceptor be decent at air to air and will GLA be able to build one additional field? i know GLA isnt supose to rely on airpower, but dontcha think that two airbases would create a bigger threat for the enemy? maybe make the additional base a rank 5 unlockable?
