Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.
The Chinese Volunteer Squad is your official cannon fodder infantry. They come in a Squad of five men with similar mechanics as the Angry Mob. There are two types of infantry in one Squad: One with a cheap rocket launcher and the others carry a submachine gun. Both are used for general purpose attacking and cannot be used against air units. Volunteers are meant to overpower your enemy through sheer numbers as they do a very bad job at fighting enemy infantry on equal terms.
Attack of the clones...
Poor guys...
They're actually pretty powerful, they will pretty much destroy most things on the ground, they really only have trouble with splash damage, air and obviously anti-inf units.
Hope you do a special US Navy Seal Squad would be pretty awsome :D
i've got some good news, on the swr forums someone opened up the .ini files and found lines about new units wich aren'timplemented yet. the navy seal was also mentioned:

Russian solider: Has anybody seen my gu- HOLY ****!!!
US Marine on killing chinese soldiers.
"Damn I feel like I've been killing the same guy over and over, they all look the same!"
Marine: "Vaguely racist comment!"
Marine NCO: "Action movie catchphrase!"
Marine: "Improperly used military jargon."
Marine NCO: "PG-13 Profanity..."
Ranger: "Angry voice!"
You got that from MEC2.
Yes. Yes I did. Can't get enough of it, either.
i must feed them to the microwave!
So basically it's the angry mob, only chinese style. XD lol
There are variants of the soldiers here, not sure why they weren't rendered in though.
The woman breed these man had a hard time >.<
But before that, she had the time of her life :D
Or not...
LOL
Hmmm, the Chinese are going more and more RA3-ish with every update.
And The Reds Will Keep Rising!
Now you just need to add the Marine from SHW, so they can realy act as cannon fooder >:D
LET'S KILL THESE FREAKS!
We Stand Toghedaaaa!
Standard Chinese doctrine. The horde.
Red Guard: FOR THE HORDE!!!
Paladin: Y'know what... Gimme a billet ta Mexico... At least they got chimichangas there.
aah...what...I didn't catch that?
I feel really bad for them. They volunteer as cannon fodder :(
can they be loaded into transports? Because it really sucks not to be able to move these units with transports
I know this mod is only for fun and not for reality but when I saw these guys carrying WWII style weapons in mid-21st century (100 years old equipments), I felt sad, not for these (not really)volunteer(ed)troops, but for the players that will play the mod. From Fallout games to this mod, I seen Chinese troops are always in "hords" (quote:"How many hordes are there in a Chinese platoon?"), and carrying either AK (classic) or PPSh (even more classic). I seriously hope someone can make them with higher quality (e.g. similar to American grunts) rather than repeating the same "human wave" pattern of previous video games. If you guys are unsure of what to do, check the Contra mod.
You do realise that china has 1 billion people, thats why they are always in hordes.
Yeas and USA have more than 400 millions population and I didn't see their hordes. The population is not the only factor. Besides, it is obviously lame to see 2050's Chinese infantry in 1940-1950's gears, being 100 years behind is not what they are currently planning to do with their military.
The horde thing wasn't our idea, it's been the Chinese gameplay style -since- the original Generals, and it'd be lame and unintuitive to turn them into anything else at this point in development or create the false impression that these units are somehow more 'advanced' than they actually are compared to the other factions by giving them some tacticool space age rifle. Have you looked at the original Generals Red Guard cameo? It's -obvious- that Chinese soldiers don't look anything like that nowadays, but it's a part of their original design, as is their focus on horde and spam tactics. Call it clichéd, call it anachronistic, but it does serve to visualise the fact that they're the faction that uses Zerg tactics in this game. Plus, to make up for that lack of modernity, they get nuclear-powered tanks, Overlords, EMP and other technical gadgets that do actually seem kind of advanced.
I see, maybe I'll just modify them into higher quality when the latest version is released (I always modify the mods). What I meant in earlier comment was that you guys should have created brand new units and game play style of Chinese faction instead of copying the old "horde" mod in dozens of video games and mods before.
Trust me, you don't need to mod it, these guys are so overpowered its not even funny.
Trust me, when I boost their quality, I reduce their quantity as well (more expensive), and that will make the gaming balanced. I used to have some modding skill experience before, back in the good old Red Alert 2 days.
If it makes you feel better china is the only one with a high-tech hero unit.
