The Empire has fallen and a New Republic is born out of the conflict. But in the ashes of civil war, yet another life stirs...
Manaan is a world that many consider to be long past it's prime. Though it had major significance in the days of the Old Republic, its economy and infrastructure were crippled with the discovery of Bacta, a healing agent far more reliable and potent than the Kolto mined in the depth of Manaan's global ocean.
However, the Rebellion as well as other organizations found special use of the planet's healing Kolto supply during the Empire's reign, when supplies of Bacta were cut off from anyone not publicly aligned with the Empire. Imperial Bacta shipments were still stolen when possible but Kolto offered a cheap and less risky alternative, when Bacta was not available. Additionally, in rare instances were a person is allergic to Bacta, Kolto may offer an alternate option.
In-game, those who control Manaan will receive a very small boost to infantry health.
I know there isn't a ton of detail to show on an ocean world...but as most know, you can see geologic details of the seafloor from space. I tried to emulate that here. The details are subtle but I feel it's better than a solid blue surface.
What landmarks can we see from this picture?
No landmarks but geologic features like undersea mountains, trenches, reefs, etc. They are very faint/subtle below the surface of the water but they are there.
When will the RotM planets marble set be available to order?
Soon. The Alderaan marble keeps shattering in internal tests. Not sure why.
Just watch out that you don't lose your marbles.
Ahhhh, all the fun times i had with Revan there...
Indeed :)
It looks incredibly good especially the difference between ocean floors they look like the pacific ocean from space. But i must ask where is Ahto city it would be neat to see it it is visible from space in Kotor.
Ahto City was abandoned by this time. The Selkath briefly returned to the city during Imperial occupation but nothing is said of it's fate after that point. I would assume that, having retreated to their underwater cities prior to Imperial rule, that they would have gone back there again once the Empire was gone. However, since the Empire used Ahto City as a way of exploiting the Selkath and forcing them to the surface, I'd almost bet that they would have sunk the city so that it couldn't be used like that again.
But as I said, there is no official canon on what happened post-Empire.
If you go with it being sunk, you could probably still see it's shape on the sea floor, given it's size (it'd also be a neat reference, imo).
It would be VERY small if resting on the seafloor. However, it could be a nice easter egg.
Interesting i did not know about the destruction of the city since i could not care less about bioware's awful mmo and it's stories.
It's a shame it would have been nice to see it during space battles.
Destruction of the city seems like supposition by Farseer (is logical though) after Palp's Empire moved out.
Exactly. The Selkath weren't xenophobic but they definitely became isolationists, like many other species that were oppressed by the Empire. It seems logical then, that Ahto City would be destroyed since it's only real purpose was to provide a safe place for offworlders to stay.
Well it seems it was destroyed during the great galactic war. It was rebuilt during the rise of the empire and was used as a luxury resort in the civil war but in time the selkath rebelled against the empire and destroyed the resorts . Probably the city was abandoned/destroyed by the selkath because it was a reminder of their slavery. Who knows maybe they did keep the city when they joined the new republic. That's when the mod makers can take artistic liberties if they want.
Yep. It might be fun though, as a ground map, to battle on an abandoned Ahto City... like it has features we all know from KotOR but they are old and broken, overgrown with algae and rusted from salt in the ocean air.
Sounds great! I always liked Manaan in KotOR probably my favourite planet.
