The Empire has fallen and a New Republic is born out of the conflict. But in the ashes of civil war, yet another life stirs...
Geonosis was made famous during the Clone Wars when the Republic invaded the planet to eliminate the huge B1 and B2 Battle Droid manufacturing plants located there. The destruction wrought by that battle can be seen from orbit and the hulks of war machines, the bodies of clones, and the scattered remains of the battle droid defenders can still be found in their final resting places even today.
*Over the next week, I will be releasing improved planet models interspersed with any regular updates that may come out. Stay tuned for these as there will be several!
After the Clone Wars, the Geonosians were enslaved by the Galactic Empire and many of them were even sent to help with the construction of the Death Star. Every so often, the Geonosians would revolt against their Imperial masters, and indeed almost overthrew them when secretly, a band of Rebel Alliance soldiers were sent to assist them. Though Vader himself put an end to that particular incident.
Later in the Civil War, Geonosis would be liberated by Rebels, starting with an orbital battle in which Wedge Antillies himself was involved. When news of Palpatine's death reached the Geonosians, they adopted a largely isolationist policy, having no desire to be invaded or enslaved once more by whatever governing body came to power. Few have had reason to visit the planet since.
In-game control of Geonosis will grant a price reduction for all droid-type units. This makes it a more valuable prize for Mandalorian players.
Center image...may be...possibly...an actual map ;)
However, this particular prop won't be used for said map. The rings look great from a distance but up close, a more detailed mesh is needed (higher resolution texture for the planet too).
Just imagine fighting right over those rings though. Spend more time observing the scenery than in battle. Lol
Oh my... Damn. It's great that you pay attention to scenery and atmosphere. In fact, well, sometimes I just start a round to watch the battle. I think even if you don't use serious strategies you are driven to experimentalism: Ah, that looks interesting. Now, let's test this... Amazing work! It would be awesome to see a multiplayer trench battle map of the Death Star with the amount of those awesome details.
Yeah, obviously the death Star is long gone by the era of the mod but it could make a fun skirmish map...just for fun.
Well, colour me intrigued.
The quality of these is astounding. Way better than vanilla planets. Excellent work.
Thanks!
