The Empire has fallen and a New Republic is born out of the conflict. But in the ashes of civil war, yet another life stirs...
This ship is not canon. However, the Imperial Remnant really needed another hero in space but it was difficult to find one which fit in the timeline of the mod. By 24 ABY, most of the Grand Moffs and renegade generals had either been killed in combat or murdered by their competitors, vying for power of the fragments of the Empire (basically, Admiral Daala killed them...).
Furthermore, the Remnant already had two end-game heroes in the form of the Firestorm (Daala) and the Chimaera (Pellaeon) so adding another high-ranking official who commanded an ISD would have been overkill. The 181st filled out the low-rank space hero need but then who goes in the middle? The answer was to improvise and do some retconnig...
The end result was the Leviathan. This starship is a modified TonFalk Escort Carrier used by the Shadow Academy to quickly deploy Shadow Academy troops and fighters in areas where full assaults would not be appropriate. For example, when the Academy needs to acquire a new student, usually a lone or small group of Jedi Knights sent on a mission by Skywalker, they will deploy a raiding party with the Leviathan, grab the target(s), and jump to hyperspace.
To accomplish this goal, the Leviathan has been equipped with tractor beams, advanced radar systems, and a cloaking device. To ensure the success of it's missions, Kueller himself commands from the bridge.
In-game, the ship will be lightly armed but will act like an electronic warfare or AWACS ship. It can tractor small ships, deploy Royal Guard Interceptors, and cloak. When it's cloak deactivates, energy is directed back to the radar systems and it can detect cloaked enemies for a time while also getting a temporary boost to it's LOS.
Frickin sweet - nice concept
Thanks!
Is this actual ingame footage?
Yes! All the images I post are either from the map editor, ALO Viewer, or in-game.
99% of the time, I take them in the map editor so I can rotate the ships and get all angles easily.
Damn... double damn. There are few mods with actual visual artistic value in this old engine. Seems like yours is one of them. Congrats.
Well thanks man! It's even better with your explosion effects added in. Seriously, they add so much to the game; truly beautiful. If I had to name a weakness of mine in modding, it would be particles so I thank you for lending yours.
Always a pleasure.
Dude!...... I creamed my pants. (Amazing skin)
Oh and the planet looks cool too.
Good thing I purchased stock in Tide...
Yep, it's a Tide ad.
LOL
The Galaxy will be ours again by any means at our disposal. Great work Farseer you never seem to disappoint.
stunning
Stealth carrier : AWESOME
Thanks! I thought it was a pretty cool concept that I don't believe has been done in EaW before.
Awesome. That black Tonn Falk is very striking. Especially with that white empire symbol on it.
I think the storm commando Imperial escort carrier would fit the pursue and capture story a bit better though.
This ship certainly fits the name Leviathan much better though. It's got a very bulbous shape and even the forward hangar looks like a mouth or maw of some sort.
Anyway, the reason I opted for this rather than another ship type is because the Command Escort Carriers were exceedingly rare ships built for one very specialized branch of the Imperial Navy. The TonFalk carriers were much more common and therefore would be easier to acquire, modify, and repair.
I never thought of the Gaping maw thing. Does give it a hungry fish look now that you mention it.
This is probably my favorite ship now. I love the design and I can't wait to see how it's used properly in game.
Witness my vibrations as I descend into the next realm of excitement!
A compliment that can so easily by misinterpreted by those with a 12 year old boy's sense of humor. Lol. Good thing I'm much more mature than that....
Thank you :) lol
Nice idea. Is that an EVIIIL observation dome on the ship's belly? XD
Lol no, that's the cloaking device. I kind of wanted it to look like this:
But scaled down to not include the lightning spire...thing.
Ah, alright.
Man I just imagining it having a Arc Hammer like use in GC where it can build Royal Guards when it's over a planet. But that's pretty cool! Can't wait to deploy the Imperial Remnant's finest into the fray!
i always loved the royal guards interceptors. are they exclusive for the leviathan or can i get them at my nearest weapon store?
They are exclusive. They were a rare ship before the fall of the Empire, now even more so.
Not bad, but I think the hanger lights need to be red. Y'know, for maximum evil.
I actually tried that while making it. It looked alright but it really just made no sense to me. The blue/white color is what you see for the mag fields on every hangar in star wars. That leads one to believe that the color is a product of how the technology functions and not an aesthetic. At least that's how I interpret it.
Plus, for me, the red/black combo is a little tired. It gets used a lot.
I cant believe I used to think Ton Falk carriers looked ugly. This ship is sexy as hell.
They are definitely a function > form kind of ship. Russia would be proud.
