Yeah, I was looking at it later thinking... If the Normandy was a Star Wars ship, this would probably be it. Lol. Since Mass Effect has an incredible art style/direction, I'm not ashamed to make the comparison haha

The first thing I thought when I saw this was that I'm looking at a Mandalorian Normandy, although considering the Normandy was a ship joint Human and Turian project, and the Turians do have a lot of quite boxy designs this could almost be a Turian prototype Normandy.

That is a mighty fine ship indeed, but what's with the planet and the planetary ring? Is that ring in the skybox texture? I don't even understand how that's possible.

Skyboxes and planets are all just ALO models. Knowing that, you can get pretty creative ;)

The stars and nebula, for example are just layered spheres/subobjects in one model. Easy enough to just put whatever you want in there, and export a new skybox. Or just make large props to be placed in map editor.

Sure, I know, but that ring texture is just too pretty. Is that a separate model like the planet disc, or is it a skybox layer? (which would be very interesting, since almost all skybox layers have tiled textures because of their size)

Its part of the planet model but it is a tiled texture. Take the cap of a polygon pipe mesh, each trapezoidal section is unwrapped so they stack. Then you can tile your ring mesh. The base game actually does it this way too for the smaller planet models, if you wanted to look

Description

Because you all are so patient, I'll provide an update on Galactic Conquest here as well. Over half of the planets are done. In fact, I'd say 2/3 of all planets are completely ready to play. In other words, GC is growing closer to completion each day! However, as always, I work on this mod alone so progress can be slower than other mods. In addition....my wife and I will be welcoming our first child into this world in late November!! It goes without saying that a lot of my time right now is devoted to preparing our home and his nursery. As always, your patience while I work and also handle real life is appreciated beyond measure!
