The Empire has fallen and a New Republic is born out of the conflict. But in the ashes of civil war, yet another life stirs...
New video has been uploaded to my YouTube channel showcasing New Republic gameplay on Hoth. For some reason, Moddb won't allow me to upload the video using the YouTube link (which normally works...) and the video file is too large to upload directly. If I reduce the quality any further though, it will just be unwatchable.
That said, uploading a new image and then posting the video in the comments was the only way I could think of to alert followers to the upload. So....yeah, sorry for the ratchet video preview here. Doing my best. Lol
Here is the actual video...
Oh man... It's beautiful
Haven't seen the whole thing yet, but having watched the other two gameplays I have to say something that isn't brought up often. Props to you for using soundtracks from the new canon alonside Lucas-era tracks; from the sequels, the anthologies, even Battlefront 2017. Small detail that has me thrilled, on top of everything else.
Thanks! Music is SO important, especially for Star Wars. The John William's soundtrack is half the magic that one feels when watching a SW film or playing a SW game. I firmly believe that if the music doesn't work, then it simply just won't feel like Star Wars.
That said, even though Rogue One and Battlefront 2015 were not composed by Williams, I felt their respective composers did a wonderful job of capturing the feel of Star Wars. This is especially true for Battlefron 2015, which I honestly rate as equal with the original Williams compositions.
Rogue One is a bit more of a mixed bag. Some tracks really work, others are just ok. I took the ones I liked and used them where appropriate.
As for the new canon...I can separate my disdain for The Last Jedi from my appreciation for it's music. For instance, the reprisal of Tie Fighter Attack that is used on Crait was a wonderful piece. Changed ever so slightly from the original but woven into the new music seamlessly. That's why I chose to use it on the main menu.
Anyway, I'm glad somebody noticed and appreciates that touch.
That is a lovely snowfall weather effect.
Thank you. Actually, I think I made just using the stock particle_master texture file. Don't remember what "square" I told it to use though.
Looks awesome, can't wait to play Far
Thanks!
Some of the sound effects sound like they come from starcraft. Maybe it's just me?
Nope, not that I am aware of. Most of the custom effects are taken from free online SFX sources, and then I edit them further to get what I want. Either that or they come from other SW games.
That said, there could be SFX in StarCraft which are also from an online sound library. That's not uncommon for games, actually.
Will ground transports have weapons on them when the mod releases? I think it is a very important change that AOTR has proved to give ground battles more depth so that the strategy is not to rush the landing zones
No. Not all of the transport designs even had armament anyway. The other issue is that many of the guns on transport craft are meant for defending itself in space, which means they are higher caliber guns and would melt most ground targets. Seeing as how you can have many transports landing at once, this would simply change the strategy to "keep reinforcements in queue until LZ contested, then spam transports."
also, I may be wrong but I notice a lot of the vehicles and infantry do not fire while moving.
They all do. In fact, one of the innovations of this mod is that infantry can fire on-the-move and at any target. I've given them "turret" rigging so they can pivot at the waist, etc.
