Surprisingly sleek for a UEF unit. It could do with a bit more blockiness in some parts, but overall I like it. Being a hovercraft, I'm assuming that it's amphibious.
looks nice, but transpot?
lacks some kind of loading bay, doesn't it?^^
I would personally add a large door at the front and take away the "cockpit"
That bridge tower should be enough.
It's a drone after all... ><
This would also add that kind of blockiness the UEF usually has.
they use Warp technology to put them into a seperate... "zone" in the world. kinda, like, outta reality, and then opens the gate back up and puts them back in reality.
Tbh i find the rubber part to be out of place in this universe. Way to much realism into a far far away future. While anti-grav seems to be a Aeon feature, why not add some kind of fan/jet system - something like this :
get me a time machine to go 500 years in the future and i will ;)
but yeah, the rubber(neoprene...) looks somewhat out of place.
probably better off with some sort of jet turbine that floats the hovercraft on a bed of air.
take note, if you remember in the Matrix, the ship is called a 'hovercraft', but it doesn't have a skirt, it has force pads on all sides so it can 'hover' on them.
must agree to the two posts above me, the rubber part is a bit to much 20th century and does not fit into the supcom era.
even the riptide uef hover tank from vanilla supcom had no rubber-thingy but thrusters to hold velocity above ground.
and for a transport, it should look like one, needs a big door at the front or back end, something like the rhino or land-raider has from wh40k,
even though these two tanks are heavy, treaded land tanks.
Ok OvR and I have decided that this will only be A T3 transport and I'll make a new XP soon with no rubber, only fans.
And thanks for all the feedback its much appreciated :)
This makes me think it would be nice to have some lower tech hovercraft for the Cybrans and UEF. Though it is the Illuminate specialty, one or two hover units for the others would be quite a useful asset.
IMO hover transport is very good idea coz it somehow require a sea control, sea defense, while in vanilla SC2 you could invade only by air or experimental.
I think that Cybran shouldn't have hovercraft, but instead an underwater crawler that would travel on the sea bottom - this way we could have diversity:
UEF (T3 or T4 exp)- hover transport
Cybran (T4 exp) - underwater transport
Aeon (T5 exp)- sea assault ship that could make short range teleport of it's cargo to the shore.
But still teleports and jump jets have limited range, so both Cybran and Aeon need some kind of long range transport.
In minimum case, UEF has Noah Cannon and Aeon have teleportation building so only Cybran don't have any additional long range transportation system.
IMO my transport idea would be nice if Noah/teleportation building could only transport small units, while transport could carry everything from T1 to T3 (experimantals can crawl in water of be transported by experimental transports).
There's something I never quite understood while working on this mod. I don't want to sound offensive, but this unit looks hot, its not gonna replace any other units, why are people arguing about rubber? Use this unit if you like it, if you don't want rubber in your play, use the NOAH. Youve all seen the units in supcom 2, the pulinsmash has threads! Aeon doesent have threads? So what will rubber do, does A detail like that really set you guys off?
Well you can always say it's not rubber but some hyper-advance nano-material that is elastic as rubber but super strong, self nano-repairing and much cheaper than Aeon anti-grav engine.
Look at modern rifles - we're able to make a laser rifle, but still advance projectile rifles can do the same job easier and cheaper.
EDIT: I think that the bridge could stay as it is - it looks like SC1 Atlantis bridge which make it bass.
as for loading bay it's not needed coz super-short range teleportation from Air transport is standard issue.
@Avitus12 your fat boy hovercraft model could make an awesome T4 or T5 transport. Modify the model a bit (remove the landing pads and add some doors) and it could be perfect. Hope this helps you, if at all.

Everything doesn't have to be super blocky, If you crave for blockiness then go play Minecraft xD
I agree, wouldn't make a huge amount of sense for a hovercraft that has to be aerodynamic to be super-blocky. Good design :)
I assume this will be a transport unit, will it? btw nice design :D
@Res_Novae
Its built for speed so it has to be a little sleeker than normal.
@Overwatch
Yes its a sea and land transport.

you probably have seen this allready, but:

its how Transports in the SupCom2 world work

not digging the rubber part so much :/
It wouldnt be a hovercraft with out it O_o find me a hovercraft that doesnt have one?
get me a time machine to go 500 years in the future and i will ;)

for reference: Modellversium.de
a big bulky, heavy armored door at the front
and it might be a bit too sleek for a transport unit, how many units shall fit inside it ?

So it's going to be like the Transport Hovercrafts from Total Annihilation? If so, then I dig it.
Wouldnt know never play Total Annihilation also havent played FA for 5 years.

That sounds like a freakin good idea :)
The hovercraft was made because UEF units can no teleport or jumpjet over water this is a huge handy cap for UEF units.
But still teleports and jump jets have limited range, so both Cybran and Aeon need some kind of long range transport.

I agree, I like this unit alot, but I also think that it should serve a lower tech role.
Cybran has the T4 transports.

NEEDS MORE SQUARES!
CALLED IT A PLATYPUS!
....lol
thats perfect some type of sea trasports are totally needed

Thx for your work.
Oh mai gawd. @_@ Moar.
Sweet. Now I can have my amphib operations that I would simulate in FA.
does it blend
