Renegade X is a mod dedicated to recreating C&C Renegade in the new generation engine, the Unreal Engine 3. We all believe the Command and Conquer series is a very special one, and its fans have been following its games for over a decade now. C&C has been one of the most successful videogame series in the RTS Genre. Our modding team believes that C&C Renegade is truly a hidden gem in the FPS genre. C&C Renegade's specialty was its multiplayer mode, because it was not mindless killing like most games. A player was thrown into a battle as soon as he joined a server, in which teamplay was the only way to win. The game revolves around a war between the Global Defense Initiative, and the Brotherhood of Nod. Each faction would have their own base of operations consisting of buildings. A team had to work together to destroy the enemy base, while keeping theirs intact. Obelisk/Advanced Guard Tower (Base defenses) Without these, your team has no automatic defense. Hand of Nod/ Barracks...

4 Years of Renegade X

Renegade X is a tactical FPS mod for Unreal Tournament 3, bringing the world of Command & Conquer to ground level. The mod is currently in the process of moving over to the Unreal Development Kit. For news and downloads, visit our main page HERE

On January 28th, 2007, we unveiled the first-ever Renegade X news update. We can hardly believe it's been four years! We've had a fantastic time, not only ingame, but also with our fans, the forums, and of course, making our dream come true. Truly, the team could not have done this without you all - thank you for your consistent support over the years - whether it be through comments, votes, spreading the message, or playing this mod with us.

In these four years, we built a simple idea from the ground up, and released five beta versions of Renegade X on Unreal Tournament 3. We also attained six awards with your help, as well as countless features on a plethora of different websites.

Over the past year, we've been working on porting Renegade X to the UDK. This would make Renegade X a free standalone indie game in future versions. Since this has required us to do a lot of programming and editor work from scratch, we will be doing the standalone release in two phases: the first, as you know, is Renegade X: Black Dawn, a singleplayer-only mini-campaign coming soon. We will then work towards our full multiplayer release. Most of the resources used in Black Dawn will be used again in multiplayer, so therefore, Black Dawn is a necessary stepping stone to that future release. In the meantime, we are working on some multiplayer aspects behind the scenes; and everything will be unveiled when the time is right.

we are her to celebrate the efforts of 4 years of hard work by the most epic bad ***** the world has ever seen
to celebrate that there are people out there willing to make CNC proud

"long ago the CNC community saw the need for Modders unlike any other
Modders who could face the unbearable horror that was EA
Modders who on the day of certain defeat would be victorious
Renx's team are those Modders people"

Renegade modding had little to do with EA. The only argument you could use against EA here was that they FAILED to bring us a C&C FPS.

Ironically enough, some of those great mods wouldn't exist today if EALA wasn't so laid back. Reborn could have been cancelled, they could have disallowed modding for C&C3 and RA3, but instead released an SDK. On top of all of that, this wouldn't be here either.

Bickering aside, I'm just as eager as ever, if not more. I assume you'll allow community maps, but will there be anything included so as to make single player campaign editing possible?
I'd also love to see actual bots (Not the NPC's) and some kind of assault-like gamemode. Those are two things I felt were very possible with Renegade but never saw the light of day due to rushed scheduling.

Releasing the SDK is becoming sort of a tendency among the game publishers.

But I find it both good and quite sad, I does give the independent dev teams autonomy and freedom to alter their code and create new games and mods based on their source code.

But also leaves on their shoulders the task of unfuck the screw ups EA made on the game they released either by rushing the release or cutting funds. I can't stop to appreciate the irony when independent teams make a better job than the original game devs.

Nah, I disagree. I think C&C and FPS is a jackpot waiting to be discovered. It would be a gold mine for creating rich epic stories with amazing immersive capabilities.

Congrats on your project turning 4 years old! I look forward to downloading this when you guys make it standalone!

On a side note, a funny parallel is that my project Tiberian Dawn Redux turns 4 this May! I cannot believe it has been that long already!

I loved Renegade back in the day. This will be so much fun. Judging by the last UT3 mod release, you really captured the Renegade spirit! Well done.

Uh I am not sure if using the Battlestar Galactica soundtrack without proper credits is a wise choice...

Ya but not on the video itself, neither here or on YouTube. That's usually a problem, just don't want to see this mod getting into legal trouble :P
