Who is it for?

UnrealTechnology wrote:Anyone. Everyone. You. Unreal Engine 3 has been used by game developers, researchers, television studios, machinima directors, artists and students. If you have an idea that needs to be brought to life in a game engine, UDK is for you.

Why UDK?

UnrealTechnology wrote:Only UDK has the power, flexibility and track record of Unreal Engine 3. These tools have been proven with countless releases and dozens of awards. There is no better way to make awesome games than with UE3.

Hi Mythril. We're doing a game in UDK and Blender. We started it over two years ago so we stuck with UDK but would say that you might be better to go straight for Unreal 4. You'll have to learn C++ but it's a great language to have, while with UDK you'll learn Unreal Script which is of no use for anything else. UDK in its present form is based on Unreal 3 so it's already obsolete and will only be more so. Unreal 4 is available for a small monthly subscription.

Hi, I am CEO and Creative Director at Auca Games. We are looking for UDK mappers and programmers to go along with our established team as we've lost ours.

The game is an Action RPG and we need some programmers and mappers to work on a demo level we want to show in a video for our kickstarter.

Well I hope this won't end up being released with graphics that belong to a console instead of graphics for the P.C, I really hate it when that happens.

Both serve a purpose and are unique to the purpose they serve. A lot of people enjoy both while others will tell you one is better than the other. I've heard that scripting is easier on Unity while others enjoy using UDK because it makes more sense. I myself am a sound designer who's programming if you can call it that is pretty much the same on every engine lol I love both engines, I think the best answer is to try it for yourself and see what you can do!
