Dog fighting is interesting, but it is very annoying in many games. Take Empire Earth for example. You can build a plane and it can fall dead without firing a shot, if caught from behind.

We've done a lot of testing to ensure that isn't the case here. The effect is almost entirely visual.

Yeah but the only thing is if you are piloting them youself and you know how to get it where its going migs can always pwn the the allies fighters just because of how they fire this is actually pretty difficult to even out the power here.. But i like this kind of fighting im playing another mod that has the same dog fighting and its great :)

Actually, I think I understand why they didn't code in dogfighting; hardcore players might not want their units circling around like this. It was an ease of micro vs looks choice rather than any lazyness on their part. We just sit on the other side of the fence on how we think it should work.

What about flares? Give the apollos flares to even up the fact that migs in dogfights not have got to have the enemy on sight all the time?

Fire and close, swerve away, come back for another pass. The damage of AA jet weapons has been buffed to make up for the fact they are not always on target.

Wouldint the MiG have a huge advantage in passes like this because of its burst-fire?

I kinda think the MiG is superior to the Apollo in RA3 b/c it barely looses (if it does) to the Apollo and is much MUCH better at chasing enemies due to its weapon system.
