The Microwave Tank was modelled like that to resemble a spy van from the 60's. The Paradox Team (heck, Red Alert 3 in general) loves nothing more than to milk retro-tech for all it's worth. -- |

The term "Microwave Tank" is really just a colloquial saying. It's not really a tank - like PsychoticLoner said, it's more of a van with a microwave emitter on the top. It's not *supposed* to be a tank. The Horizon and Torchtank are supposed to be tanks, and thus look a little more tank-like. |
