Most modern RTS games don't have buildings that use power. However they do have population limits. So, I converted the power system into a population control system. I will release a version of the mod that does not place a total population cap and one that does (by limiting the total number of power plants allowed).

And this little fact is what makes modern RTS games rubbish compared to the so called 'old-skool' RTS games, where you actually took the time to build a base and create an army, without having to bother about silly things like population caps. Of course, your mod, so your choice, but you won't get my interest.

I to like to take the time to build a base and train an army. I see this in games like AoE but all I see in RA3 is things like people selling their MCV and spamming Peacekeepers. The point behind caps is to slow down game play. Anyway, it's not like I am making money on this so I am going to make it the way I want and your interest does not concern me lol

Well, another reason I don't play RTS games online much: everybody uses the same tactics, which results into rushing and short games, which I hate.
And you aren't concerned in my interest is your own choice, but I doubt you will make many ppl happy with such an attitude...

My overall goal is to make the game more unique. The Pop caps are to make players think more about tactical decisions and what units to create and use. I don't mind constructive criticism but if you are not interested enough to try it out then I cannot help you.

Seriously. If you don't like the mod, just don't play it. The dev doesn't have to accommodate every single person who thinks his ideas are the best. The way you put your suggestions is rude, to be blunt.

"makes modern RTS games rubbish"
"but you won't get my interest"
"you aren't concerned in my interest is your own choice"

Of course, if you use a translator, then I apologise and seek your understanding.

Last post from me on this matter:
I just don't like that modern RTS games are going more for the way of having population limits, and lack of base building/resource gathering. Just look at C&C4 and DoWII. Both started out as RTS games with a solid base, but now changed to be more open to newbies. I don't dislike the fact they want to get new ppl into the RTS genre, but they will loose the old fans with this trend.
Also, I may not be English, but I ain't using a translator ;)

Some of my favorite games are Age of Empires 3 and Company of Heroes. I model after them not C&C4 or DoWII. So, don't worry about me trying to eliminate base building or resources. I just wish the AI could build walls and have some real fortresses going on. As for resources I am looking into ways of added a few more to the mod.

Personally i think a complete new supply depo would go well, something with a crane.

Atm, I don't have anyone skilled enough to create new models for the mod. Hopefully, that will change at some point.

I personally liked how the power plant was your greatest vulnerability, because without it defences shut down and production slows to a crawl. I can see how you'd want to use a population system though, RA3 matches are all about spamming units without a tweak like that.

Defenses are actually still "powered" even though they do not require any set amount of power. So, spies still shut them down, no depots at all = no defenses and exceeding the pop cap also = no defenses. Although you can only exceed the cap by one unit because production shuts down as well.

I actually love this idea. Is there a max population count? Like in StarCraft is 200.

But If you're going to be doing this, I would suggest getting rid of some base defense structures, like the soviet sentry gun, or whatever is call in RA3.

And maybe rather than using the sputnik or the prospector, make all 3 factions need MCV to expand their bases. That way things get more tactical ;D

Just suggestions, but I still really like the idea of population control C:
