The release of the "Poke646: Anniversary Edition" on Dec 21st 2016 marks the 15th anniversary of the original "Poke646" release and the 10th anniversary of the "Poke646: Vendetta" sequel release, both some of the most critically acclaimed singleplayer mods for Half-Life. Both games form a coherent storyline and span over a total of 42 maps and approximately 4-6 hours of playtime.

The "Poke646: Annniversary Edition" is basically a bundle of both mods, patched to run under the current Steam and Half-Life versions. This edition is designed to replace all other installations and/or patches of the mods, ideally becoming the only downloadable edition of the mods over the coming years.

The Level Design Of Poke646

Since all the original trailer footage for "Poke646" and "Poke646: Vendetta" is of very low quality, I assembled a HD trailer to accompany the release of the "Poke646: Anniversary Edition". Showcasing the vast variety of locations in the mods, this trailer focuses on the level design aspect of the games.

ModDB downscales uploaded video to 720p/30fps, so for the full uncompressed 1080p/60fps trailer, head over to Vimeo!

Both mods seem to work fine with the 25th anniversary update without any major issue. Maybe some of the patches fixed the issues you were experiencing?

MP3 playback seems to be bugged in windowed mode but it works fine in full screen.
There is also a minor widescreen bug with the IU text being misaligned but that can be fixed by adjusting the x position in titles.txt from 0.27 to around 0.29 or 0.30.

These mods are some of the most fun I've had while playing Half-Life. Props to you, dude. This mod is fantastic.

One of the best mods for half-life 1, I would even say that it is at the level of an official game!

I keep wondering if this will ever get a 3rd part

The only place it could go is the Seven Hour War or during the Combine Occupation before Gordon returns.

Well, the story ended in part 2, and after all these years, I doubt it.

This was my first non-Steam Half-Life mod game that I ever played, and it was very enjoyable. Thank you.

The only complaint that I have is that all the text in the first game (emails, end-of-game story scene, etc.) was around 25% too fast for me to read. I wanted to take my time to read these messages, but the game forced me to speed read, and even when I did speed read I often didn't finish in time or did not get a full grasp of what the messages were about. This forced me to read the messages a second time, which was annoying. I would slow those messages down by at least 25%, and maybe upwards around 33%.

The laptop messages in the second game were much slower, maybe the tiniest bit too slow, but I would leave them as is because it gives people plenty of time to read them and then they don't have to read them a second time. If you want to speed them up, I would only speed them up 5% or 10% at most.

Anyway, I doubt that you will make any adjustments and I know people can't handle criticism, so thank you for what otherwise was a perfect, enjoyable experience. I wish that every game in existence was a GoldSrc game, similar to this mod and the original Half-Life series. And I think that it is sad that developers can't make GoldSrc games for money. You deserve to be paid for your hard work and have it distributed on platforms like Steam.

PS - I really liked how I was able to get through that Level 4 clearance bunker door in the sequel. It bothered me that I could not get through that door in the first game.

PSS - I saw that some people requested a flashlight. That's dumb. None of the areas required a flashlight. Maybe they are playing on laptops with very bad, dim screens, but I could see everything clearly even in the darkest of areas. Don't get me wrong. I like using flashlights in games. But this game didn't require one nor did I find myself wishing that I had one while I was playing.
