The release of the "Poke646: Anniversary Edition" on Dec 21st 2016 marks the 15th anniversary of the original "Poke646" release and the 10th anniversary of the "Poke646: Vendetta" sequel release, both some of the most critically acclaimed singleplayer mods for Half-Life. Both games form a coherent storyline and span over a total of 42 maps and approximately 4-6 hours of playtime.

The "Poke646: Annniversary Edition" is basically a bundle of both mods, patched to run under the current Steam and Half-Life versions. This edition is designed to replace all other installations and/or patches of the mods, ideally becoming the only downloadable edition of the mods over the coming years.

The Level Design Of Poke646

Since all the original trailer footage for "Poke646" and "Poke646: Vendetta" is of very low quality, I assembled a HD trailer to accompany the release of the "Poke646: Anniversary Edition". Showcasing the vast variety of locations in the mods, this trailer focuses on the level design aspect of the games.

ModDB downscales uploaded video to 720p/30fps, so for the full uncompressed 1080p/60fps trailer, head over to Vimeo!

This was my first non-Steam Half-Life mod game that I ever played, and it was very enjoyable. Thank you.

The only complaint that I have is that all the text in the first game (emails, end-of-game story scene, etc.) was around 25% too fast for me to read. I wanted to take my time to read these messages, but the game forced me to speed read, and even when I did speed read I often didn't finish in time or did not get a full grasp of what the messages were about. This forced me to read the messages a second time, which was annoying. I would slow those messages down by at least 25%, and maybe upwards around 33%.

The laptop messages in the second game were much slower, maybe the tiniest bit too slow, but I would leave them as is because it gives people plenty of time to read them and then they don't have to read them a second time. If you want to speed them up, I would only speed them up 5% or 10% at most.

Anyway, I doubt that you will make any adjustments and I know people can't handle criticism, so thank you for what otherwise was a perfect, enjoyable experience. I wish that every game in existence was a GoldSrc game, similar to this mod and the original Half-Life series. And I think that it is sad that developers can't make GoldSrc games for money. You deserve to be paid for your hard work and have it distributed on platforms like Steam.

PS - I really liked how I was able to get through that Level 4 clearance bunker door in the sequel. It bothered me that I could not get through that door in the first game.

PSS - I saw that some people requested a flashlight. That's dumb. None of the areas required a flashlight. Maybe they are playing on laptops with very bad, dim screens, but I could see everything clearly even in the darkest of areas. Don't get me wrong. I like using flashlights in games. But this game didn't require one nor did I find myself wishing that I had one while I was playing.

To the Poke646 team,
Thank you for all your work on this.
It's a great mod.

I do have one question, are we able via command or config setting,
to turn the flashlight on ? Many of the maps are pretty dark
and my 65-year-old eyes do have some trouble with that.

Thanks...

I did find a file that mentions flashlight in poke646:
File gfx\shell\kb_act.lst:
35 "impulse 100" "Flashlight"

I tried the impulse 100 command in console, but still no
flashlight.
Thanks.

I can't seem to give myself godmode. I was able to open console and change the value of "sv_cheats" to "1" , but upon entering "god" i did not recieve godmode. Any idea what is going on or what I may be doing wrong?

EDIT: I tried again and it works now?? idfk

Late, but for future reference the reason why is that in gold source games you type in sv_cheats 1 then have to load a save (just quicksave/quickload after putting it in) for the cheats to take effect

I've played "Poke 646" and its sequel "...:Vendetta" two times through over the years. These are two of the best HL mods.

I actually feel that the prequel -Poke 646- is somewhat 'overrated' even though it is clearly the longer of the two mods. Poke 646 has pretty good custom textures and original weapons (nail guns, timed grenades, etc.)....but the creativity of the level design and the actual textures seem to decrease in quality the further one progresses into the game. I actually only rate Poke 646 a 7.5/10.

In my opinion, though "Vendetta" -the sequel- is clearly a significantly shorter mod than the prequel, it is far superior: The custom textures are even better, there are more and better weapons and there is much combat -esp. against damned militants...and the 'sci-fi' futuristic setting is also a lot cooler than the wasteland setting of Poke 646.

I wish that Vendetta was as long -or longer- than the prequel....but nonetheless I rate "Vendetta" an 8.5/10.

A great mod! One of the best if not the best HL1 mod there is. I had always heard about it from general HL1 fans, but also from PC and or magazine reviews, but the name always put me off. I mean what is a Poke646 anyway!?

However seriously this is one mod you do not want to miss! Even after years old on a game engine that is really old, it still looks decent, plays very well, the mapping is superb and it adds new touches that other mods do not. Even the length is decent. Try it out!

Poke646 and its Sequel Vendetta are in my opinion the most well made and one of the best (if not THE best) Half-Life Mods I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Pros+ The Level Design is the most amazing I've ever seen for any GoldSrc Engine Game or Mod, hell I'd go far to say that its Level Design is better than anything made for Source Engine. The Mod adds some New Weapons that aren't just Reskins of Half-Life's Weapons (Well Mostly), one of the coolest is this Alien Slug called a Squasher which…
