The game takes place in the eve of the Seven Hour War. Fighting against blood shedding synths and frightening aliens, Adrian Shephard has to struggle his way with his fellow comrades from the Phoenix Command, with the main objective of stopping the construction of a Combine Citadel. In his journey he will find what has happened to the world, moments before the Seven Hour War.
With City 14 dotted in fiery chaos, feeling the twinge of the Combine apex, our hero Shephard wakes up amidst the action. The combine’s authority grew exponentially, without motive or mind. The city was in mayhem, the struggle for control ended in bloody and destructive termination. Combine simultaneously choked out the cities busy and outnumbered forces leaving only pockets of resistance to fend off the invaders. Within hours the city was theirs, Shephard, now alone, had to brave the city’s dangers alone. Bodies called to the wandering cremators who periodically patrolled the once flourishing city streets.

Looks good. really detailed... Well, I am more amazed by the textures than the blocky buildings int he backgrounds. I mean, the ones in the foregroud look good, background look like ****. Kinda like the rest of his work.
Because you are such an amazing mapper. Why don't you read the side-bar and see that it says WIP you insipid ****. I don't know what's wrong with you people, the background is the least important thing when it comes to WIPs.

Wow, this is fantastic!
Looks really awesome but I recommend choosing some colors which fit well together. Some brick buildings, some metal? With a bright white building peeking out from the right? Huh? It feels kind of like the maker said 'whatever' and just chose building textures.
I really said whatever and started making random buildings, you're totally right this time.
We're just getting some ideas down, this doesn't represent the final version what so ever.

You can do better. Those buildings in the back look a bit blocky and textures doesnt fit at all. But the nearer houses and the main part are ok i guess.
That's why it says WIP. And I don't see how the textures don't fit for the skyscrapers, the skyscrapers are based off real buildings. Not only that but the hotel towers, the hospital, the business tower at the background... They all look alright, specially the radio broadcast tower. I admit the green/black building looks a tad blocky but business skyscrapers are normally blocky.

I think the problem is that it's lacking detail. Plus, the textures don't look lined up like you'd expect with a skyscraper's windows.

I think the only problem is that the background looks a little too clean. The smoking holes in the structures contrasts quite a bit with the otherwise spotless exterior. The foggy look implies dust and ash are airborne, as with much of the world in Half-life 2, so the building texture should probably reflect that around the finalization.
Yeah, there will be custom textures; as well as some grime, dirt, destruction, etc. This is really just a mock up of the city "background".
Wow that looks great, I'd suggest making the stars smaller though. :P

Thats really cool looking! everything else has already been said and i personally dont think it looks too blocky, it looks almost like how a real city would.

It looks great, but it looks like New York. Maybe make it more suburb-ish, like City-17. I know it's a different city and all, but still, it feels like Down-Town. Maybe just LESS skyscrapers, and more city-17-ish apartments.
On the other side, I think you should add ONE skyscraper: The Citadel. It should look different, maybe wider and shorter, while still keeping the Combine architecture, as the it doesn't have to be EXACTLY like City 17. Should still be huge, though.
Just my thoughts, anyways. Looks good either way. Great Job! I especially love the smoke coming from the building.
No. It's supposed to be a manhattan-ish city. And it's based in America.
There's no citadels in this city because Citadels take years to get built. This is an year after the seven hour war. Not only that, but if the combine wanted to make a settlement there, they wouldn't destroy everything.
