"It's easy enough to see their reasoning, however. If it ain't broke, don't go back to the workshop for three years to fix it; iterate fast instead, churn out the content, and feed the rabidly hungry mouths
presented by the audience of any hot multilayer game before they turn away. In a way, it suits the immediacy of Left 4 Dead to be followed up so fast"
This was a paragraph from a blog review on "Eurogamer.net" Eurogamer.net
If your the type of player who rampages through a game for the pure fun of hooking up with some others and blasting the shit out of everything(Whoa man,did you see that?Awesome!!)until you reach the games conclusion.Maybe twice. Then your done....That's easy.
"OK now....what's next? That was cool!Wheres the sequel for Christ's sake!?" Game publishers are out to make money.(no shit, right?)Do you ever really consider what your paying for? Many gamers are content with a few solid hours of half assed thrills and blowing the baddies away is easy to do.And it's that,"I'm done, what's next" mentality that allows these game developers to specifically market all this half-baked shit to that type of player because they know you'll buy it without much thought at all.
On the other side of the spectrum are we gamers who actually enjoy the same type of gaming, but focus on the games "content" for a richer and more fulfilling experience.Originality.Creativity.A strong linear story development with complex and rewarding game play mechanics(and/or a combination of both) and re-playability.A protagonist you can maybe develop and identify with as the game progresses. How the atmosphere and environment influence the overall mood that you are immersed in.Not to mention the quality of it's development.
Regardless of the type of player you are, recognize and try to respect the fact that some gamers expect more from their investment than others. When a respected company foolishly publishes a game sequel for "great quarterly earnings numbers" while having never fully completed the original, fans(as consumers)will speak out,as is their right,as individuals and as groups,to petition the company to supply the content not included in the original.
"What do the boycotters want now...Why are they being such dicks...God,they're so annoying....What's their problem...?"
Now,hopefully,you know.

Too true.I can only hope to help someone avoid the lesson in passing
along the story. It's a nightmare trying to learn and stay aware of corporate methodology.I'd rather try to memorize my systems registry sometimes.
