Office Complex - Useful Textures
Apr 30, 2013 Textures 0 commentsSo, here's some of the textures made for Office Complex. It's not nearly all of them, and the file directories are really odd (changing standards, stuff...

Q&A:
"Black Mesa's out, are you still going to release?" or "Do you know about Black Mesa?" - First, congratulations to the Black Mesa Team for working restlessly and finally finishing. Secondly, we started the project knowing Black Mesa could be released at any time during development, and that has never stopped us.
"When will you post more screenshots?" - We can only get so much done in small amounts of time. It could range from days before we get presentable work or months. Combine this with the fact that the mod itself is already pretty small, and the limited screenshots should be understandable.
"When's the release date?" - We don't know. Due to a crucial team members leave we've been forced to cease development, at least temporarily.
"Is this mod dead?" - I think "Frozen" is a better term, but to each his own.
"Are you competing with Black Mesa?" - No, not at all. They have their mod, we have ours. There's no rivalry, or any other sort of connection between the two. We also won't be using any of their assets.

Well, then. Good news, and horrible news.
The good news is that I got in contact with John, the modeler. He's able to maintain a steady communication, so that is no longer a problem. The bad news is that our programmer, BoX has apparently decided to leave the mod.
This is very, very bad. He was in the process of modifying our HUD, VGUI, NPCs and bullsquid/houndeye models, among other things. Basically a very large portion of what would make Office Complex fun (and even a bit unique) is either half-finished or broken. We're sans the source code, so fixing and finishing it all is a no go. Go figure.
The remaining team member and I had a chat, and we decided finding a new programmer and having them start anew would be less than ideal. So - at least for now - we're ceasing development on Office Complex.
For those wondering, BoX's leave isn't the sole reason for this. We'd like to focus on a new project that allows us more creative freedom than remaking a classic, for example. This is the end of neither of our developing days. I personally am on another team and applying to another, both of which would be a much better use of time than hoping to pull Office Complex from limbo.
Here's some final things:
If you have anything you want answered or just wanna say, feel free to say it.

This seems promising :)
All the screenshots are "OLD, OLD, OLD". Anything new?
Soon, soon.
I like the new logo. It would be cool if you added a few windows into side rooms, just for looks. Like the electric water room but purely aesthetic. I find that it makes the whole area feel more believable and adds a certain depth to an otherwise concrete-tube corridor.

Put some iron sights...
Why?
Somebody please explain to me what ironsights add to a game.
(Anybody who says "It adds realism" gets a kick in the bollocks)
Better aiming? Nar I kid, iron sights are for retards.
I've actually heard people toss around the word "tactical" when trying to justify it. Something about how not aiming down the sight obviously makes your pistol have a 20' spread. Not as realistic as they'd like you to believe, but it's a gameplay mechanic, I guess. I personally don't like it.
We can pretend a secret underground facility caused intradimensional portals to bring in aliens, but making a firearm as simple (AND ACCURATE) as point and shoot strays too far. Screw that, no iron sights in our mod. Half-Life should be more or less ADS free or else starts to not feel like Half-Life.
nah, make it "classic" ;)
The Black Mesa shotgun really did look like crap. I agree with the guest. Your shotgun looks better! By the way, good luck on the mod! :D
