"Black Mesa's out, are you still going to release?" or "Do you know about Black Mesa?" - First, congratulations to the Black Mesa Team for working restlessly and finally finishing. Secondly, we started the project knowing Black Mesa could be released at any time during development, and that has never stopped us.

"When will you post more screenshots?" - We can only get so much done in small amounts of time. It could range from days before we get presentable work or months. There's lots of entity work and other misc stuff that isn't visual that we spend time on as well. Combine this with the fact that the mod itself is already pretty small, and the limited screenshots should be understandable.

"When's the release date?" - We can't be sure. Things get cut, added, some members go on hiatus, Valve breaks things... development is an unpredictable thing.

"Is this mod dead?" - If you're reading this, then no.

"Are you competing with Black Mesa?" - No, not at all. This project started in early 2012 as a way for a level designer to become familiar with Source development. It's since grown, especially as skills improved.

As of recently, Office Complex has been reopened, and development has continued! We're back in business and more motivated than ever to push this thing out. And if you don't believe me, check out these new shots! We think they pretty much speak for themselves.

That's right. As it turns out honing development and organizational skills over a year helps bring out a new shine. Who knew?

For those not in the know (what with the 1 year in the "Dead Mods" pile and all), Office Complex (started February 2012) is a recreation of the Half-Life chapter of the same name. We plan on designing our mod similarly enough to the original to satisfy purists, but pretty, interesting adn fun enough to make it actually worth playing. We halted development early last year when a programmer left, keeping his source code. While we do not have a new programmer yet, the position is open to anyone who feels up to it. More details on the job page.

That's all for now, guys! We'll try and keep you updated, and we hope for speedy development and a release soon-ish. See ya next update.

Somebody please explain to me what ironsights add to a game.

(Anybody who says "It adds realism" gets a kick in the bollocks)

I've actually heard people toss around the word "tactical" when trying to justify it. Something about how not aiming down the sight obviously makes your pistol have a 20' spread. Not as realistic as they'd like you to believe, but it's a gameplay mechanic, I guess. I personally don't like it.

We can pretend a secret underground facility caused intradimensional portals to bring in aliens, but making a firearm as simple (AND ACCURATE) as point and shoot strays too far. Screw that, no iron sights in our mod. Half-Life should be more or less ADS free or else starts to not feel like Half-Life.

The Black Mesa shotgun really did look like crap. I agree with the guest. Your shotgun looks better! By the way, good luck on the mod! :D

This looks awesome, I can't wait to play ... Could someone please tell me the name of the song in the trailer, I love instrumental theme music and it's bugging me that I can't find this song anywhere else :P

Thank you. Hope you don't think the trailer is a legit one, though. It was an April Fools joke.
ALSO, the song is "Enter, Gotham" by Wesley Avery. Here's the mp3 if you want it: Goo.gl

One would hope so. I guess it's up to the players to decide. I'll say our actor is pretty freakin' confident about them, though.

just remember no mods is bad and because all mods have a modification for the games you like you gonna need to choose what you like all of the mod is not bad they are all good nicely done and they share what they've done on the game modding is not a work its a hobby so this mod is doing pretty good other big mods has many members that's why they can do all of the textures,models,3d,animations,coding becuase they got many members
but in other mods there is only few members that's why they work slowly and release there mods too long because they are few.

Ignore all the haters, this will be a great mod. People shouldn't even compare it to Black Mesa.

Give 1 legitimate reason why they shouldn't.

Also, to the devs, don't mistake that for a knock, I wish you the best of luck.

Your sentiment is shared within our team, I believe. There's no reason not to compare our mods (unless us being less experienced is a get out free card, somehow), and really, it's pretty much inevitable, and we're okay with that. Being compared (and even challenged!) is a great learning experience. So feel free to compare, we'll embrace it and learn.

But you tell us Black Mesa's out and think you're being new or clever then you can get out, heh heh.

How would you know? You can't even see it.

In all seriousness, I don't mind people *comparing* the two, I suppose, but it's when they don't even give it a chance that is a bit bugging.

Steviewonder322 Oct 10 2012, 9:56am replied:

Well the fact that they haven't rushed it due to Black Mesa and aren't bowing to the pressure of people to use the textures from it, we can assume that they are devoted to making a great mod to the best of their ability

I was actually making a bad joke based on your username, but you are correct in that we're doing our best. There's no fun in making it ourselves if we steal assets or half-*** it.
