Q&A:

"Black Mesa's out, are you still going to release?" or "Do you know about Black Mesa?" - First, congratulations to the Black Mesa Team for working restlessly and finally finishing. Secondly, we started the project knowing Black Mesa could be released at any time during development, and that has never stopped us.

"When will you post more screenshots?" - We can only get so much done in small amounts of time. It could range from days before we get presentable work or months. There's lots of entity work and other misc stuff that isn't visual that we spend time on as well. Combine this with the fact that the mod itself is already pretty small, and the limited screenshots should be understandable.

"When's the release date?" - We can't be sure. Things get cut, added, some members go on hiatus, Valve breaks things... development is an unpredictable thing.

"Is this mod dead?" - It's in a frozen state. While not abandoned, and while I do occasionally work on it, I have far larger projects I'd prefer to work on.

"Are you competing with Black Mesa?" - No, not at all. This project started in early 2012 as a way for a level designer to become familiar with Source development. It's since grown, especially as skills improved.

Back to Work

As of recently, Office Complex has been reopened, and development has continued! We're back in business and more motivated than ever to push this thing out. And if you don't believe me, check out these new shots! We think they pretty much speak for themselves.

That's right. As it turns out honing development and organizational skills over a year helps bring out a new shine. Who knew?

For those not in the know (what with the 1 year in the "Dead Mods" pile and all), Office Complex (started February 2012) is a recreation of the Half-Life chapter of the same name. We plan on designing our mod similarly enough to the original to satisfy purists, but pretty, interesting adn fun enough to make it actually worth playing. We halted development early last year when a programmer left, keeping his source code. While we do not have a new programmer yet, the position is open to anyone who feels up to it. More details on the job page.

That's all for now, guys! We'll try and keep you updated, and we hope for speedy development and a release soon-ish. See ya next update.

Yes, but it's taken a serious back seat to other larger projects because of time management.

Why exactly did you pick the chapter Office Complex to recreate instead of any of the other chapters from HL1?

When I started the project I had next to no skill with anything, and it was just me. I used it as a way to get familiar with Source. I chose Office Complex because of it's simplicity. Most other chapters were either way too complex for me to even consider, or required something heavy that I simply would not be able to do (like new NPCs, weapons or what have you.)

Probably not. :c
That was in the plans for a while (there's even some mostly working code and an entity for it in one of the older builds), but since our programmer ditched that's probably a no-go unless we can get a replacement.
