New utility cart model, to replace the cheaper-looking plasticy models I had. These are metal and heavier so you cant just whip them up off the ground like the old ones. (which wasnt very realistic)

What can you do w/ these carts, just push them ? =oP
Can bullets fly through the open space ?
It might not be bad to put some stuff on these carts too, I'd suggest diff stuff so it doesnt get too boring, maybe a few boxes on the bottom, hey, a medkit on top wouldnt be bad either :D
Could set a tray on top w/ some vials in it, clipboard/tablet or something.
IMO vials should be in the lab too where the outbreak happens, these could have some color liquid in them, some on the counter/floor broken, might could put some beakers and flasks in there, just some ideas .. :)

You can push them but they are meant for cover mainly. When you do push them, its kinda slow. (Most of them are tipped over) There will be small amounts of debris like boxes and stuff around them, but I cant overdo it - there are limits in the engine to just how much stuff you can cram into a single map and I dont want too many loading points to break up the flow. Bullets can indeed go through the emply spots, which was very important to me. I used to be annoyed by games that had places you should be able to shoot through but couldnt due to the invisible bullteproof wall :)

Ok, I didnt know you had special limits. I agree about loading points, they do slow things down and can get annoying.
It seems there is however a flaw in your logic =oP that is, if these are to be used for cover, how much cover can it be if bullets fly through the open parts when these are like 80% of the object ?
I do think that is realistic tho, like you say, some games I HATE trying to shoot through stair and walkway railings, cart openings, broken out windows in vehicles etc only to have bullets bounce off!!! x_x I also hate shooting glass that (isnt bullet proof) but doesnt break!

Actually, as I said earlier, most of them are tipped over so the top is actually the side, providing cover :P

Have you tried that yet, I mean tip it over n hide to be sure that the player cant get shot in the head ? I am sure we can still crouch in this mod ?
One more thing to consider whilst making rooms and filling them w/ stuff, well some objects like these tables wont be destructible so make sure they cant get us blocked in a small hallway or small room!
Usually in HL we're able to destroy some stuff to get it out the way.
Honestly, I like being able to destroy stuff tho :D

Yep, Ive tested every prop so far. Actually, Ive tested that map so much Im starting to hate seeing it at this point :P Every time I change or add something, I test it to make sure it works. I wish I had kept track; I would bet Ive ran through that map 500 times now. Aside from my 'test as I go' approach, I have two testers to come to the studio in person who will make a few runthroughs and try to find some exploits/problems.

That sounds like abit too much, you might need an assistant to keep notes, maybe your Son could help w/ that! As for testers, say I'll see if I can squeeze into this scanner so I can fax myself over there, you have a fax/printer right ? lol
O and you do provide refreshments for testers yes ? :D
