The No More Room in Hell mod is a total conversion modification for the game Half-Life 2. It pits a small group of human players against a overwhelming horde of undead, flesh eating zombies. The mod takes place in a small mid-western city in the United States. There, the humans must try to escape the city alive by any means necessary. This means that the use of vehicles will be crucial to survival against the undead. The mod is co-op, which means that you will be playing side by side with other people from around the world to fight the zombies, which are computer controlled NPCs. Because the mod is using Half-Life 2's Source gaming engine, we hope to make this one of the scariest and most frightening mods to date. In this modification we plan to use the full extent of Half-Life 2's physics for ultimate game play. To put this in example form we have plans for a wooden bat that will break after heavy use. We also plan on taking advantage of the advanced map sizes for large cities...

New screenshots from our work-in-progress map, "The Subway", have been added to the Screenshots section of the website. What I think everyone will be able to appreciate is that our team mapper, Dark, has provided us with 18 completely new screenshots of the subway and the surrounding street above. "The Subway", just as the name indicates, takes place among the desolate and abandoned buildings located near a city's now deserted subway station. Or is it deserted? More then rats scurry along these tunnels… The real question is, can anyone hope to survive down there long enough to find a way to escape from the zombie-infested city?

Here are a few of those screenshots:

Keeping in mind that this map is still being worked on, we hope to further customize it and our other maps with new textures and models in the days ahead. So you can look forward to seeing these maps as we draw them even further in the grim reality that is life after the zombie apocalypse.

Note: To see all the screenshots, please visit the screenshots page on the main site.

This is strong mapping, but here's the issue.

When a 12 year old kid with a little hammer know how can plunk the SAME dumpster, or smashed car into his map as you are placing into your mod, you've got a problem.

Now it's tempting because half life 2 shipped with a huge library of quasi real-world meshes to use, but it is also going to increasingly become a turnoff because it makes everyone's maps look alot the same, regardless of the lighting, or the architecture...One shared recycling bin is all it takes to make a user smell that something ain't right

Anyway, just a tip that you may want to give the maps some personalized flair seeing as you're planning on making custom zombies and guns and all the rest of that stuff anyway.

Great map NMRIH team. Can't wait to run around it.

As for using HL2's library, sure you might see the same thing in plenty of maps but you should be looking past that, especially this early in development. I'm sure they will soon put in their own prefabs and stuff.

Magnifying those shots would indeed be an excellent option!

As for the HL2 model library: I 100% disagree. (w00tw00t! ;)) Those models are just fine; they're high-quality models. Sure, many mods will use them but it's just HOW you use them. You can implement such models lousy, mediocre, good and simply fantastic. From what I've seen so far they are being applied good and I definitely ain't complaining!

About the media itself: I liked the research station better but the city map still looks nice. It does need some polishing up here and there but they're WIPs, so that probably means my nitpicks will be corrected anyhow. In all, I'm very curious as to how you guys will create this mod in the Romero-Dead universe and I'm definitely looking forward to this one. (And I'm not looking forward to a lot, so that's a compliment of immense proportions.. ;))

Mr.Kadish

Lighting is something that YOU has the modder has to be talented at doing, and we all know lighting is what makes a map look REALLY good, and in them TINY screenshots it seems the lighting is great, which also = a real good map :D Not that you can see much in the form of map layout, but from what I see there it looks good, nice use of textures to.

The props are nothing, they just help glorify the map, and make it less plain and boring, but they certainly don't make a map.
