This mod is supposed to be a total conversion for UT2k3. It started with the plan to simply convert the scifi-gameplay to something fantasy-like with swords and spells and now this is expecting you when the mod is finished:
First thing to mention is that it will be a team-based multiplayer-mod. There will be some townhalls around the map, where you can get it, and when you get in, your view will turn from fp to a top view from which you can build buildings, gather ressources and recruit troops. Someone in your or you yourself can (as long as you are not inside a townhall) command those troops and fight the enemy. In fight, you can gain experience and increase your skills like in an rpg. You don't necessarily have to fight with enemy troops, you can also gain experience by killing creeps and it depends on what you kill how much experience you get (if you shoot a rabbit with a fireball-spell, you aint gonna get a lot of experience, but if you kill a tiger, you will. And if you fight a dragon... well, you will most be dead, I think, if you try this alone). Imagine all this presented with the incredible UT2k3 engine. You wanna have it, dont you? Well, you gonna get it.

OK guys, some news on Majestic Kingdom:

- we changed the name to RISING SHADOWS
- got a first ingame-shot to give an impression of a small base
- 7 persons are involved in the project by now, at the moment it's mostly basic coding that has to be done
- building buildings works already

Can't tell you when it's done (It's done when it's done), but it seems it will be done somewhen. Bases, armys of orcs, elves and other fantastic creatures, creeps to kill, ressource system, creeps to kill, experience points and skills like in a rpg, and the incredible UT2k3 engine.

OK, some changes have been made and some progress. Basically, the building system (top view with a raster to place buildings) is working (btw, at the moment most people seem to have not that much work because its all about coding at the moment, so mappers etc have not that much to do).

I added some basic description, I hope it sounds somewhat interesting. ;)
While thinking about the strategy control, I decided that a topdown view is the most practical choice, because this will allow you to use the mouse for a cursor, not for looking around. I hope you don't mind Chach. :)
The top down view is basically working already, complete with smoothly auto adjusted height (relative to terrain) and a comfortable zooming (changing both viewing height and rotation, similar to WC3).
I will start working on the strategy HUD and mouse cursor now. I also plan to create a basic website including a few php scripts to aid us with maintenance. A forum wouldn't hurt either. I can set this all up on my server, without advertising and everything.
