Jane's WWII Fighters was released way back in 1998. It is considered a good WWII Flight Sim in it's day. I still have my original CDs. I always felt that Jane's WWII Fighters has a good balance between Flight Simulator and Game. Having recently gotten the bug to play the game again, I set about getting the game running and looking as good as possible on modern hardware and operating system (Windows 10 & 11 64-bit). For a video game that, as of this posting, is 22 years old, I think I managed to get the ol' gal looking pretty good! The game by itself is limited to a max resolution of 1280x1024. However using dgVoodoo 2 wrapper, a 4x Resolution Modifier is applied that renders the game at resolutions that can actual exceeds 1080p. It will then scaled back down to 1080p with the proper 4:3 aspect ratio preserved (for example). This should allow for 1440p and 4K resolutions as well. dgVoodoo 2 also adds DX11 support. This enables the use of ReShade to enhance the game visuals even further with modern shading effects for a more HDR look. As a long time player of the game, I had acquired most if not all other major mods created by the Jane's WWII Fighters community fan sites over the years. I even ordered the Community Add-On CD back in the day. Sadly, these community sites no longer exist. The mod creators deserve much credit for their work! Also featured is a launcher I built that is styled after the original game launcher but with more options and features added. It also has an included Mod Manager (by Jonesoft) with many Community Mods included.

I spent most of my free time for two years playing and modding this sim. I didn't expect this happy trip down memory lane. So many of the great mods me and the old boys made for it are here too! Thanks Groovy Galaxy Studios.

Norton brings up the setup files as a virus: heur.advml.c I would really like to play Janes WW2 Fighters. If only it didn't have a virus and there for is deleted by Norton.
Norton is the worst, even JayzTwoCents sez to avoid it Youtu.be
installed flawlessly and runs great on windows 11, thank you so much for this, a part of my childhood is preserved.
if someone actually left a review, it would be nice :)
Hey, I think there's a graphics problem, everything's entirely white and black and totally corrupted. I've even installed the graphics update. As of 2 / 8 / 23 the games entirely unplayable and broken. Please fix!
Just found a fix, run DgVoodoo as an admin, go to the DirectX tab, and check "fast video memory access. That should fix it!
I have just stumbled across this brilliant site and found the reference to Jane's WWII Fighters. I still have my original boxed set and receipt for £29.99 from the Games Store in York, UK ! It was one of my earliest combat sims and was brilliant for its time. Mt disks will no longer install under windows 11 and you can imagine how happy I was when the 2020 version loaded perfectly.
So to begin with, and to all the developers that worked on this project, a massive thanks and a very big well done. Absolutely fantastic job. I spend most of last night leafing through my paper-based manual and, when I tried it this morning, there it all was but much. much better than I remember. The graphics are nothing short of superb and again, that is all down to the develop(s). Great job guys.
I hope you don't mind one quick question. Is there a forum where I can go to to raise a technical question. I am using a Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog joystick and throttle these days. The sim actually recognises the throttle which is brilliant but it won't recognise the joystick. I have gone in to Game Options / Controllers and tried all of the joystick configurations but none work. Any ideas would be really gratefully received. Many thanks, Ed
unfortunately the forums died long ago
