The goal of this mod is to bring back the units from the original Homeworld into the Homeworld 2 engine, with high quality texture and polycount detail. The campaign and animatics from the original game will also be included.
Now it's good, i tweaked the smooth groups, added detail to the front, and a few more goblins.
I know it's just a small scout, but it still looks a badass :D
I agree on that it looks badass, by the way I think squadrons is a great way of playing the game because building one ship each seems strange for me, especially in HW2, Because it isn't only a scout it should be almost the same number of scouts as there are in a interceptor squadron.
Not having 3 hips in a squadrone because that would be a usuall HW2 scout squadron.
we still haven't decided about squadrons, but to me, the scout should be a single unit.
I for one never liked squadrons in Homeworld 2,
I would prefer the Homeworld 1 approach if it's reasonable.
The nose doesn't convince me, the cockpit in particular.
Speaking of the cockpit, I always immagined it as a single, smooth piece; something close to the F-14's one to give a reference, not so round and fragile of course.
I prefer your first attempt (the one on your profile) of that part...
A question, why have you "readded" the armored fairing on its right side, alongside the engine?
If you go for squadrons with all strikecrafts except scouts, a single scout would take the same space of an entire squadron of interceptors while docked and this would disadvantage it, especially because the Arrow is more considered a light interceptor than a scout.
I readded the armor first because it looks a lot better on the ship and second because it was on the concepts, was cut because of poly budget.
I'm not sure about the cockpit as well.
Ah, I didn't know the story of the poly budget. I thought it was left because rather useless...I mean, why weigh down a ship whose strenght is very high speed and manouvrability? But ok, I can live with it.
...single seat, right?
Right, but that's the original texture, relic made it to look two seat- Shipyards.relicnews.com
The Taiidan bomber Shipyards.relicnews.com seems to have a single seat. And the Kushan counterpart has two? Strange to me.
Kushan cockpits can easily be that way to have less polys on the model, and/or to try to further differentiate the two races' designs... Even because it doesn't make sense to me that Kushan pilots don't have a direct visual line to their front targets; only above them? They have just flattened the cockpit's geometry, that's my impression.
And look, Youtube.com ...3:46 Taiidan scout clearily with a single seat, the only doubt can be on the Kushan interceptor 3:38. But single seat or not, the cockpit is a single curveless piece.
Understood, and that interceptor picture will be very usefull, it's better than the concept art...
You've never browsed HWShots then...

I think one thing that's throwing off your Scout is you are making the cockpit and surrounding hull too rounded and bulbulous.
"You've never browsed HWShots then..."
Actualy no, but i add all those concepts, except for the one on the cutscene, it's a lot better than the actual concept art, it looks a lot better. I'll redo my blade based on it. Thanks.
Glad to be of some help :)
