That's actually just the effect created by using a lot of distant and close nebula and gas clouds, unfortunately on the flip-side of things, it sometimes causes massive lag on some people's systems.

well they kinda did do miracles with the hw2 engine, so you actually might need a decent rig to play on max. No problem on my side hehe full eye-candy deliciousness for me >:)
