It isn't my best model, admittedly. I'm pushing to release the ground beta soon though so this model was pumped out in about 4 hours, textures and all.
is this a new map or just a FOC map? (I suspect its the latter, most likely kessel) nice job as usual though. Did you previously say they will shoot while deploying because i cant recall...
Actually, the Phantom is shinier than the Spirit...it's the angle that makes it appear less so. Refer to my reply to Thunderstrike about roundness and detail.
I approve of both, you do great work. I love the look of the spirit and the phantom stays true to Halo while not eating the crap out of a computer's framerate. If people are really looking for the phantom to be incredibly detailed they should just go play Reach. You did an excellent job for the game you're modding.
Thank you and yes, the Phantom was already almost 2000 polys which is pushing it for this game. There technically is no poly limit (that I know of) but when you have X units on screen already, you want to keep things manageable. Also, since transports are only seen for a few seconds, while the units they deploy are seen for as long as they survive, it makes sense to save some of that poly allocation for the units and cut down on the transports themselves. As for the texture, it could use a little work admittedly but mostly the finer details are just lost in compression. I don't think people realize that this game runs filters on it's texture maps, compressing them to lower than true quality for framerate reasons. This is true of most games. I'm running an anti-aliasing override from my graphics card but that only does so much.
I suppose you're right (: But I still have 1 thing to say and that is: Don't rush for a beta, people can wait and you deserve some breaks once in a while xD (Unless you really need a lot of feedback from the beta asap)
yeah I got that aswell I want to finish the first beta of my mod Tiberian Sun Redux asap, everything is in the mod the only problem would be the damage and range of the weapons of each vehicle, and like grinder27 says you can take a brake once in a while I do that aswell and in that lets say vacation of 2 / 3 weeks I upload some screenshots of renders/ingame.
The human buildings in Reach were white if I recall, so maybe a quick and dirty retex of the current game buildings like the coruscant sets to white would help bridge the gap until better props are available. But I agree that these should be the last priority.
That may be an adequate solution for now. Though I do have this secret desire to blow people away with the beta and I would really like to just make my own props :) lol
Since I was varying grunt colors anyway, I decided to throw in a 'team-colored' grunt as part of the squad...so it will be pruple, blue, green, whatever team color you are.
my thoughts would be the spirit for smaller vehicles and infantry (ghosts, elites, grunts, etc.) and the phantom for larger ones, like hunters and wraiths...
One of them is making a Pelican shadow! I swear that's a Pelican.
Other than that great models! I prefer the Spirit personally, i think it looks better, but it doesn't have the curves the Phantom does so it'll naturally look better with low frame rate. Anyway, still loving your work, every single time :)
it doesnt make sense that there are spec op grunts with minor elites, wouldnt they be in a spec ops squad. also that the heavy grunt is in an a normal squad, i would be expecting some plasma cannon squad. the ultra grunts kind of dont fit in with the normal enimies as well
Nice spirit texture and geometries, but I know you can do better on the Phantom. :P

When I tried to model it it ended in a suicide attempt. It's a hard model to get right.

It is Kessel. Maps and custom props are coming last, after all ground units are up and running.

Awesome work on the spirit, but I suggest making the curves on the Phantom a bit more round, and make it somewhat shinier and a bit more detailed.

I haven't been rushing thus far but ground is nearly done and I'm eager for people besides me to play :) It's just pre-release excitement.

I always disliked how Empire at War handled cityscapes.
It would be better, imo, if he did the Viery territory.

Spot on. Except that Ghosts are also dropped via Phantom (since they drop in pairs).

I'm pretty sure scarabs drop from orbit, like ODSTs.
