GTW is a massive, full conversion mod for WC3. GTW will seek to totally revamp WC3 gameplay with strong design and modernized systems. GTW will have physics, dynamic accuracy, crawling, shield bonuses, and much more in terms of combat systems. GTW will also have a brand new resource system and neutral system, as well as some other new systems, all of which compliment the strong design.

GTW will feature 8 all new factions, each of which will have its own style, and all will feel very different. Some will focus on guerilla combat, while others will focus on traditional combat, and while still others will focus on other forms of combat.

GTW will also feature three, full campaigns, singleplayer and multiplayer melee, as well as singleplayer and multiplayer custom. WC3 has survived as long as it has because of custom maps, and GTW will not forget this. GTW will actually come with numerous GTW versions of popular Bnet maps. GTW version? These maps will utilize GTW units and systems. Thus, imagine a Footmen Wars map with physics, accuracy... one must simply salivate.

GTW will not slack in storyline either. GTW is set roughly 50 years before the events of WC1. Azeroth has been experiencing a period of relative peace. However, the trolls have stepped-up their small raids and pillaging. The Azerothien King feels that it is time something was done about that. The Troll Containment Act is created. The TCA allows humans to freely murder trolls for a monetary reward supplied by their local lord. The trolls were up in arms about this, and held a massive meeting of all the clans in the country of Azeroth. The United Troll Front was formed to combat the menacing humans. Chief Harraxe of the Blood Axe clan split from the UTF though because he was not selected as one of the twenty warlords. In the first campaign, you take control of Chief Harraxe and his elite clan, waging war in Southeast Azeroth.

GTW will essentially modernize WC3, to the point that some are already calling it WC4. GTW will attempt to provide a superior melee experience, as well as a superior base for custom maps. Custom maps are what is keeping WC3 going, and GTW will supply a much better base for them. Mappers will now have access to systems such as physics, accuracy, crawling, shield bonuses, etc... as well as large, fresh set of models. Mappers will be given all they need to make maps that far surpass those currently for WC3.

And thus, GTW is the one mod you won't want to miss if you own WC3.

Our newest member (the talented JASSer/coder Zergleb) has brought cause for us to re-examine our initial dynamic accuracy system. We had thought that we were bringing the most realistic accuracy system to WC3 that we possibly could. However, we were wrong. We had initially thought that to integrate a more realistic system would be to integrate lag as well. Lag is unacceptable. However, Zergleb noted that we can do this without incurring lag. Thus, we have reinvented the dynamic accuracy system. The new system proves to seems to be more likely to be in a predecessor to Company of Heroes rather than a WC3 mod. Picture an archer as he lines up his target, which is running to the right. The archer aims his bow to the right of the target, moving it as the target moves. He looks down the shaft of the arrow to ensure his aim is true. He then lets fly with the arrow. However, the target stops abruptly, and the arrow misses. However, the target stopped to avoid colliding with an ally. The arrow continues on its trajectory, and strikes the ally instead of the target. Enter GTW's realistic dynamic accuracy system. Read more about it from my post on our forums- Realistic Dynamic Accuracy Description

Also, as always, I've brought some eye candy with me too =) Today I've got two models which you may have seen previously, but outfitted with some stylish new weapons. I also bring you the Elven Scout, a brand new model and skin. You can also check out our gallery to check out images of our WIP Stromgarde structures (we're currerntly reworking the textures, making some slight modifications to the models, and adding team color). With the project moving in full-swing again, I'm sure I'll have more to report soon, so stay tuned!

The mod is currently on hold- probably permanent. Lack of personnel was part of the issue but as you can see from the art we already had posted, that alone wasn't the entire issue. Development was just moving slowly and the whole project was ambitious and unfortunately managed to get on the bad side of some very prominent WC3 community members early on which hurt its development and recruitment greatly.

In early 2008, a new opportunity arose. That opportunity meant shutting down GTW at least temporarily (and, in reality, if we were to continue work on GTW we would much rather do so within Wartide rather than StarCraft 2 or WarCraft 4 but GTW relies on the WarCraft IP and Blizzard has never taken kindly to mods based on its IP's created for other games- the only exception to that which I know of is a stagnant recreation of StarCraft: Ghost in Crysis but WC3 isn't quite up to the task of that so...).

However, if you were interested in GTW, you may be interested in our new project, Wartide (we also have another project in the works but I can't publicly reveal that yet)- Waridegame.com. We're working on getting a dev blog up and reskinning our forums at the moment so forgive the relative lack of public content as that will change very soon. Also, anyone who was interested in helping with GTW, while the requirements for Warshop are much higher, you may still be a candidate if you're interested.

Anyway, sorry that I didn't get the info of GTW being shut-down over here until now- wasn't much activity so I figured it wasn't an issue but that was obviously a poor assumption.

They may look familiar, but you'll notice that they are indeed different. Images of the latest two models have indeed been circulated in the past. However, you'll notice some changes. The Voodoo Hunter is now outfitted with the proper weapons, as is the Slasher.

Also, quick note here that the textures, and portions of the models, for the structures featured in the gallery are currently being modified to be more aesthetically pleasing.
