GoldenEye: Source is a total conversion modification of Half-Life 2. It is a fan made recreation, released for free, with only one goal in mind; to bring the memories and experiences from the original GoldenEye64 back to life using Source Technology. We want you to look at this mod and remember the first best multiplayer first-person shooter ever made. We are doing our best to bring in the opinions of the community to create a game that everyone is going to enjoy. But, we are not here to recreate the game exactly how it was in GE64, a lot of things have changed since they first designed that game, mainly in technology and gamers experiences. We are here to take the game even further but at the same time provide a lot of those fun elements that hardcore GE64 fans will enjoy. We've got experienced team members all across the board, from professional level, to amateurs looking to make it into the business working hard to make this dream a reality.

Announcing plans for 4.1, teasing you with level candy, and much more! GoldenEye: Source hits you hard in October. Strap in!

Hello loyal fans and new recruits! It has been about 7 months since we released Beta 4.0 of GoldenEye: Source to the public and we want to thank you for downloading our mod in droves, giving it a go and sticking with our mod. As always, we are dedicated to providing you the quintessential GoldenEye experience and are ready to roll out our next update!

We are bringing GoldenEye: Source out of Beta status with this forthcoming update. We are continuing with the previous versioning system and will officially call the newest installment GoldenEye: Source v4.1. Over the next three media releases, until we unleash the downloadable package, the hardworking team will be detailing the massive list of changes we have in store with this update. To whet your appetite, we’ll start out with our brand new custom official map, Casino!

Casino is the latest production from our immensely talented level designer Luchador. Although it did not appear in the original GoldenEye 64, we are sure this map will please. It offers a full rendition of the Casino Royale in Montenegro. Many aspects were inspired by the events that took place in the movie Casino Royale and others are based directly on the real casino.

Loyal fans may remember this map from the Beta 1 days. Luchador has since become a full-fledged developer and has done a bang up job of mastering his map for the official out-of-beta build. Currently, Luchador is moving to exciting work on Surface for a future content update, among other feats we will detail in the coming weeks.

Our community has been hard at work while we have been perfecting our 4.1 phase. The Cy, a 3rd party mapper has been working on a diligent recreation of Scaramanga’s house which will showcase all the famous rooms and features from The Man With The Golden Gun.

We also have our most recent community project, monitor images, still in full swing and accepting submissions. The project is detailed here if you are interested in joining and, like the achievements tradition, putting your stamp on our game. Check out what our community has produced thus far with these monitor displays (more on our forum!) :

Think you can match or better these? Get involved today! A huge thank you to all the contributers!

Coming up next we will detail the specific changes that have been completed in v4.1. A slew of gameplay updates, server optimizations, and HUD integrations have been made to make your gaming even more enjoyable. Then after that, final media news before our release will show you some more content that will be delivered in v4.1 along with a demonstration video. Stay alert for our exciting updates!

Remember our forums and other social outlets are always welcome places to hang out, support us and find more!

Images do Casino no justice. It is simply a modern masterpiece. In most Mods/Maps the source engine is really showing its age: not this map. It looks like something Valve themselves shipped out.

This mod is always at the top of pushing the Source engine. Starting with being the first mod with achievements. All the way to our implantation of the Source particle effects.

Want to see what the source engine can do? Follow this mod!

Get a pc, Macs are great for most things but they fail utterly at gaming.

A decent gaming pc for 1920x1080 gaming can be built for €400. A laptop running games well at 1366x768 can be bought for about €600.

A brand new Macbook Pro on the other hand costs €1300 and has a feeble GeForce 320m (Which is just an Apple rebranded 310m). It's sole purpose in a Macbook is to avoid listing Intel HD in the specs. It's barely any better.

Desktop Macs are a little better, but the top of the line in Macs is a HD5750 which is the lowest you'd want for 1920x1080 gaming. And that's only in the 27" Mac which I doubt anyone here could justify buying simply for better framerates.

I'm not saying Macs are bad, they're just not designed for gamers. At least not the kind of gamer to be found on a site like this.

I expect shrines to Luchador after 4.1 drops. He most certainly deserves it after the work he put into Casino and a few of the other things he has up his sleeve.
