Freeworlds: Tides of War is a fan built Star Wars total conversion mod for Digital Anvil's Freelancer game that was released several years ago. When fans began to make mods for Freelancer, one of the many things people were keen on seeing was a Freelancer mod based on the Star Wars universe developed by George Lucas. Freeworlds and Tides of War were the answer to this outcry. The development team of both mods have now joined forces to create an epic new Star Wars TC, Freeworlds: Tides of War.

I am really excited that this mod is close to being released. I want the look and feel of real space and not something out of a child's comic book or, crayon box and you've done it. The looks of real space makes it more of a scifi type of game and not something you'd read or, see in Kindergarten. Everything looks like in the movie if not better.

Great jobs Sushi and crew. I'm saving for a new PC, more to date just to be able to get the full impact of the graphics and all. I'm burnt out on regular Freelancer and this is a great total conversion of the game.

Over the past few days, FriendlyFire, has been tweaking the DX9 engine that W0dk4 developed. With FF's careful eye and meticulous natures he's finally really brought the beauty of this engine out. Models and textures now pop like never before and there's a new sense of realism that just hadn't been attained.

In this video you see the models rendered without the specular maps. About half way, you see the new and improved specular mapping deferred render process.

I cannot thank FF enough for the effort he's put in over the past few days as I feel with his tweaks, he's really brought the mod to another level of awesome :) (But I'm biased)
