Version 9.0 has been uploaded! It can be found at the Downloads page of this mod. It's still a WIP, so expect some issues.

Post feature Report RSS Fallout 3 Reborn V6 New Features

A few features I'm prepping for Version 6. Please DO NOT POST onto the main page for public viewing! This mod is going into the summer competition and I want SOME surprises

Posted by on

Version 6:

-About 3-5 new quests which can lead you to new weapons and items

-New buildings and map markers

-New enemies

I'm gonna keep it very vague for now. Here are the old features we're keeping/modifying

Version 5:

-A greener world with living trees and no lingering fallout (except in certain quest areas)

-Destruction effects such as being able to shoot a box of ammo with explosive results. Not exactly realistic, but it is very fun and allows for creative traps (mini-nuke + frag mine = awesome)

-Much more realistic vehicle destruction system (no more nuclear cars that can be set off with a few shots)

-Support for ALL the DLC's.

-A tweaked movement system (you move faster)

-Bullet Casings stay for much longer.

-New bullet casing models thanks to "odin_ml" and his Shells and Slugs modder resource.

-The ability to bludgeon people over with blunt weapons.

-The dull green-brown sky replaced with a more blue-white colored one.

-New and more realistic ammo types: .22 and .50 caliber ammunition added.

-Vendors can now sell the new ammo types.

-Various inconsistencies fixed (Nuka-Cola Plant changed to Coca-Cola Plant, etc), no fanboy complaints, please.

-New menu backgrounds (more interesting, in my opinion).

-Level cap raised to 40 (may be removed if it causes anyone trouble, still waiting for peoples thoughts on that).

-A new gibbing system (high-powered weapons can tear foes apart or knock em down if they survive).

-New weapons such as a 40mm grenade launcher.

Gasp! New things? I am so excited.

I love how much this mod has evolved from a simple tweak of numbers to a fully-fledged, graphically-different mod.

Thanks, thats how it usually ends up with my mods. The only exception is BioShock, but modding that is akin to pulling teeth. Something very big is on the horizon, but I'm not willing to give even a hint so early.

I love how much this mod is not a Fallout3-flavored remake of a popular Oblivion mod ;)

No, no, seriously; New weapons and corresponding ammo: Cool. New items: Really cool. New quests and buildings: Awesome.

Actually, my reborn series started with Quake 4. Even though I later discovered a Doom 3 Reborn mod, I liked the name to give it up, check out my mods to see what I mean ;) Honestly, I've never played Oblivion or Fallout 1/2, Fallout 3 was my first RPG.

Thanks, I've got one simple quest done so far. It unlocks the M60 Grenade Launcher.

Also, I haven't checked the modfiles in-depth yet so I may be missing something critical and/or making myself sound stupid here, but have you considered making "recommended" mergers?

For instance, you could take the Classic Fallout Weapons mod and integrate it with yours, giving credit, or recommend it, along with giving an additional esp that would patch the CFW changes to fit your mod better. This is just an example, I'm not saying you should use CFW or anything (though I am currently trying the game with both enabled, along with a bunch of other utility mods).

Well, I'm already adding realistic weapon models to the game. Taken (with permision, of course) from other modders. I dunno about Fallout Classic, as I'm not a Fallout fan. We'll see though.

Haha, in this particular case I have no idea where they took the "Classic" in that mod's name. It's just a bunch of weapons. Maybe it's weapons that were present in previous Fallout games? Who knows. I only played the first mission of Fallout Tactics myself, never touched the first two.

I just got Fallout 3 because in the pre-release "hype", people were saying it would end up being Oblivion with guns, and I thought that that would actually be pretty damn cool. xD

This mod looks really good, however i am wondering when V6 ill be out. I am also wondering: are you planning to implant any other areas that arnt in the current Wastland, like how about putting in some sorta of shuttle to Baltimore? Or what about some sorta of land traversing modding?

In a week or so, it's in testing now. I'm also Canadian, and have no idea where the state of Baltimore is or what it looks like (although I assume it is a neighbor state to Washington DC). I have modified the wasteland's layout in some minor ways (new buildings and such), but that is as much change as my meager skills currently allow.

I am working on new stuff, but it's all indoor stuff. Like the EWD Facility released in V5.

(in response to the first post)dang, by the way i am fallowing that one too...so far it looks pretty cool...since they never released a SDK for that, isnt it pretty much hacking the game :D

Yes, I had to hack the game to get my "mod" working. However it is by far my most pathetic mod. The only things even slightly modified are the amount of items found. It was put in a gaming magazine because of the fact that it is one of the very few mods, but I don't think it can be compared to Fallout 3 or Quake 4 Reborn.
