Sins of a Solar Empire is often described as a 4XRTS game, or a game that tried to merge the action and tactics packed gameplay of a Real time strategy game with the deep, complex, empire wide strategy of a 4X turn based game. It's up to debate whether Sins succeeded in this goal, but I think all can agree that of the 4Xs of "explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate", Sins is much more focused on the exterminate than on the others. This mod seeks to give more depth to the other 3Xs of the game by adding additional game elements or refining the existing ones to reward players who give more strategic thought to the non-combat side of the game. Combat will still be the center point of the game, but players will find that the non-combat options available will be much more rewarding. Spying, exploring, sabotage, diplomacy, culture, and economic development have all been added or changed in innovative new ways. Regardless of what you think Sins is, this is the 4XRTS it should have been.

Hello E4X (and Sins mod) players,

Just a heads up, we got a post from Stardock Developer Yarlen today that the new Sins Rebellion 1.8 patch and a yet unnamed DLC will be released Wednesday. While I've been working on a bunch of cool new stuff for E4X anyways, including the pirate overhaul and even a new minimod, we do not know anything about the new DLC besides the in the linked thread. As such I can't make any promises about how long it will take to update the mod.

As a result, if you wish to continue to play E4X (or any other mods) until the mod is updated for the new patch/DLC, remember to go to Rebellion's steam preference and tell steam not to automatically keep the game up to date. If you update there is no way to go back and you'll need to wait for us to update the mods. :p

Once I have more information about the DLC expect another post on how I intended to handle it in E4X, as well as some detailed changed E4X 1.7 will bring.

Hi Im new to mods and I really loved your E4X mod. I read your post about the 1.8 update and how we should stop it if we still wanted to play your mod. I tried to stop the update via your instructions but fail miserable by not being able to find steam's Rebellion preference after only playing 8 hours : (
