Sins of a Solar Empire is often described as a 4XRTS game, or a game that tried to merge the action and tactics packed gameplay of a Real time strategy game with the deep, complex, empire wide strategy of a 4X turn based game. It's up to debate whether Sins succeeded in this goal, but I think all can agree that of the 4Xs of "explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate", Sins is much more focused on the exterminate than on the others. This mod seeks to give more depth to the other 3Xs of the game by adding additional game elements or refining the existing ones to reward players who give more strategic thought to the non-combat side of the game. Combat will still be the center point of the game, but players will find that the non-combat options available will be much more rewarding. Spying, exploring, sabotage, diplomacy, culture, and economic development have all been added or changed in innovative new ways. Regardless of what you think Sins is, this is the 4XRTS it should have been.

Getting lots of runtime errors + game freezes at around the 3.30 minute mark when playing huge galaxies. I see people successfully running far larger games. Hmm. Do you want the minidumps? |

Sadly the minidumps are of no help us modders. Try reducing your graphics settings a bit (I.e. from highest ship detail to high) and see if that lets you play longer. If not, go to your Setting folder in the same folder that contains the mod folder. Open your Rebellion.user.setting file in notepad, find the lines "LogOutput" and |

Thanks for the info. Will try that. Changing my graphics settings has no influence at all. - Encounter the same problems when running on lowest and highest settings. |

Okay, the fighters and all that mainly helps with lag. Running out of RAM is usually the cause of random crashes (hence the lower graphics settings help), but if that is not the case its possible there's some sort of settings issue, or *gulp* perhaps a bug with the mod. |

I have the same issue as well. It locks up when playing huge random map and 9 other fractions to go against. At a point when every fraction has max ships, it slows down severely then locks up. Did everything that I can think of to speed things up, but no luck. Core i7 2600, Zotac Geforce 560ti, 16GB DDR3 1333. |

Those are all normal error messages the mod generates that really aren't errors, just warnings that the mod is doing things the game doesn't think it should in order to pull off some of the unique things. But don't worry, I found a major minidump error from someone else's save file (apparently the TEC's Commader Deyrenov's Maraud ability will cause an instant crash now, so any game with the TEC in it might minidump if the AI uses it), which I think is the cause of most of the issues. I will be releasing a hotfix soon after I'm sure nothing else is the cause, but thanks for the help. |
