Here's the gist:

Gameplay:
We are looking to create an FPS/RTS hybrid, not unlike "Natural Selection" for HL1. There will be a human commander and several human players to assist him. We also plan on adding in AI-controled bot support, for both troops and commander.

To help make sure that one team is at a balance with the other, we will create two seperate Training simulations. One such simulation will be the requiered "General Soldiers Training". One must complete this to play online, similar to how it is in Americas Army. The other Training sim will be to teach a player how to command; he must complete both training programs to play as commander in multiplayer. If a game has no certified commanders, then an AI bot will take over the job of commanding.

Story:

The cold war broiled over past 1989. Hostilities grew instead of declined. the USSR still dissolved, but a similar asian alliance, the Asian-Soviet Union of Nations (ASUN, pronounced A-Sun) took over after the great collapse.

The collapse of civilization - our great fear - mainly occured around the turn of the century. A few nuclear weapons were fired across the world; devestation was immence. The sheer power of this scared the world super-powers into ceasefire; perhaps the only thing that saved us from total devestation. A semi-nuclear-winter took place. A partial apocalypse. Many believed we had just had a close call; a grazing across what could have been the end of the human race.

After this, the world gradually, slowly, came back together. Nations were struggling to get back to thier feet. This is the time when Project Unition began;

Project Unition was the building of a global subway/transit system. It was envitioned as something that would stop all war due to its nature.

Project Unition was completed; and the subway main entrance was built in Ayers (sp?) Rock, Austrailia. A new power was to guard this gateway of light. This power was designated the Anti-Dominance Alliance. They are comprised mostly of a branch of pacifism that could be described as psycotic/chaotic good. These Neo-pacifists beliefs told that the way to end all wars was to create a devine policing force with only the most advanced hardware; in particular, defences and watchmen-type forces.

Out of the horrors of this collapse came the "good ol U S of A". Not so good anymore though; headed by a questionable president (President Ralph Gorarra), the united states has declared itself the one force of good; and has taken the stance that it must control every nation and peice of land on earth and make it a united democracy. The USA and its supporters have been refered to as the New World Imperium (NWI. tomo didnt like "world government"). The NWI is comprised of the USA and most of europe. The USA has been noted for its extremist ways; most of the european nations don't fully support their ways; many only side with them for fear of what they might do. Switzerland has finally taken a side in matters, however; now it is the ADA's prime european contact and nexuspoint.

The tunnelsystem, while new, has been destroyed in many areas, or taken captive and cut off. The ADA keeps fierce control over only Main arteries now; those being the direct routes from austrailia to the following nations: Switzerland in europe, Canada in north america, Egypt in africa, Chile in South America, and India in South Asia. Minor arteries stem from those main ones. the main arteries are huge; each tunnel has a main area that is as wide as 2 football fields, with secondary tunnels to either side. The main tunnel is seperated into 2 sides; traffic flows on the right side forwards. huge support and stationways divide it in half down the middle.

The ASUN comprises of the following countries and their influence areas: Russia/former USSR area, China, Japan, Kazakstan, Mongolia, Korea, Vietnam, and other communist nations in asia. Their power house is the remnants of the USSR empire; restored hardware and equipment of a long dead nation.

Factions:

ASUN:
This faction has weak forces to begin with; but nevertheless they survive with them by using masses to thier advantage. Notable are their later super-heavy tanks; these rolling behemoths are hard to take down and can obliterate most anything, though they are very expencive. This faction's strength is shown through barely staying alive by using very cheap forces early in the game and afterwards saving up for a large, very strong and very devestating force later.

NWI:
These forces are based on mobile armor. Their structures are only second to the ADA's, but their lower forces are very armored and armed. once one goes to higher levels in this faction, though, the forces only come off as mediocre. This faction's strength is taking out enemies quickly.

Most of you reading this probably don't know about me or my life. Well, time has come that i have been defeated by stress.

I've said before and I will retain that here again; this project will live on.

What am I saying then? I am telling you who read this that I am unable to continue leadership in this endevour at this time. Commercial or freelance developement seems very likely at this time, for EC:R. I don't want to sound selfish but EC:R's storyline and idea mean a hell of a lot to me, especially with its new integration into a new, grand plot that is a combination of all my ideas into a flowing universe. That is what it is called as well, simply "Universe", or "Universe-1989" (refering to its origin). Universe is a tangent of reality beginning in 1989, with EC:R, and including several Sub-Universes. This project is long dead. But, I am not. I'm working freelance with a couple HL2 mods, modeling for The Gate II, and doing some concept shots for OmegaWing ( Moddb.com ). Don't worry, I am well aware this project may take years and loads of effort to complete. I've tried to get us the best chance of having a great mod thats noticed by starting out with a new, monumental game got one of the best engines out there.

Am still looking for help though. I don't have the resources or skill to make some of the things for this mod, an example is that I am a modeler, but my skills and software dont quite reach the level of detail that the source engine allows. I hope to find a dedicated team who can fill this gap. If I cannot get this team, the mod will die, inevitably.

So help us out where you can! :)

Best of luck and all, but I can't help but feel you are underestimating the amount of work, dedication and skill and experience such a complex idea can take.
