Dino Crysis is a standalone title looking to build a Dino horror within the cryengine. The game concept like most dino games is based on the original Dino crisis by capcom. The game is a tribute to the game. It will be as close to the original as possible but from a different perspective!!! First person to allow for more suspense and fear in the player. limited ammo, limited weapons & health etc will also help achive the feel of fear within the game. All built on the Next Generation Cry Engine 3 ( Hence the Name) to Re-create the epic horror this game once was! I am not aiming to destroy the original as we all know the originals are always the best but I want to give it the make over it deserves.

Oh, Im just playing Crysis 1 on PS3, which runs on the CryEngine 3, like Crysis 3. I think Crysis 1's environment, a isle full of plants, fits better to dinocrisis then the (awesome) few Crysis 3 maps. So you might think of develloping for the Crysis 1 remake, or to take some props from there for your project.

You can do both and let the player decide in the options menu which angle he wands ( like in Crysis 1 for ps3 ). Which is A.W.E.S.O.M.E. Also you cold add a menu option that disables the fixed camera angles.

DC1 didn't had exclusive fixed camera angles. It was more of a mix of fixed (static) cameras and tracking/following cameras like RE:CV.
All the environments were 3D, not pre rendered backgrounds like RE:1/2/3

Hi everyone the mod was put on hold due to other commitments i have but i have now freed up some time to re open development of the game, i am still deciding on weather to make this a 1st/3rd person or fixed cameras.

I want to make it a jumpy dino horror and the games best for this are fps i.e. doom etc

If anyone could help with the development of the mod please message me!

Thanks

I feel like there are 1 billion too many First Person games and not even one good 3rd person game any more. Also, the original DC was 3rd Person...

Quick quizz: What game would you find more immersive and fun, RE:Survivor or RE:1/2/3 ?

3rd person fixed (+tracking/folowing) cameras are perfect for this type of game. There's also nothing wrong with tank controls and auto aim etc. 1st person perspective screams for precision aiming and lots of bullets... hence, that's what we have Counter-Strike for ;) (used to love that game btw)

There are so many aspects involved in changing a game's camera perspective that it hurts my head only to think about it.
It'll be too long of a story to explain in more detail why 3rd person camera would rock so much more in DC than 1st person.
But I guess you've already figured that out, that's why your're in doubt.

I am working on a small scale Dinocrisis I remake for Source, and am very pleased to see similar projects.
Loved Dinocrisis too, it is a true Original game for me, and one of the best games ever.

A small suggestion:
Keep the things simple and minimalistic: Its better to have 1 Level finised in good quality and to release it as alpha version then working for years on the beginning of a entire mod and ( many mods died ) not being able to finish anything at all.

I wish you good luck for this project mate!
