A completely standalone new scenario for Resident Evil 2 with new story (and cutscenes), skins, sounds/music, new resources/mechanics (best gameplay)... Resident Evil: Mortal Night - v2.00
Resident Evil: Mortal Night was a great success in some fields, but it was also a big deception for me and many people. The saving system wasn't available, there were bugs here and there, I wasn't very kind with the player in many situations, there weren't many settings...
That was the initial result of my mod, a (very) flawed masterpiece of modding.
Now, with a bit of free time, I'm developing Mortal Night v2.00, which will be what the mod should have been in February. The saving system is now available, there is new content, some details have been added, bugs have been solved (I remade the rooms), it contains new configuration for cinematic cutscenes, and it brings all updates and settings that the patches added.
But, there's something more important than all of that in this new version. I'm talking about "The Labyrinth".
The Labyrinth is an extra minigame that will bring Mortal Night v2.00. It has its own story, but the important thing about this minigame is: the gameplay. You have complete freedom to move along all rooms of the game, there are only some locked doors.
The main feature of this minigame is that each door will lead you to a different place than the one it's supposed to lead you: you can be in the hall of the RPD, and one door can teleport you to the Umbrella Lab, and there, another door will lead you to the sewers. You don't know what the game is going to do, and you can't expect what kind of enemies you'll find. The gameplay is still hard, but very entertaining because of its high variety.
In this hardcore situation, a very important new mechanic will save your life: Shops.
You can exchange items with the NPCs of the main hall, being able now to reload all your weapons for free (to help you in exploration), to buy vaccines, ammo and ink ribbon, and to upgrade weapons. This is a comercial area, the only safe area of the minigame, and it has a very relaxing atmosphere.
You'll be helped by NPCs in rooms where the situation is extremely hard for one player. Furthermore, the grenade launcher will be available for the main character of this mode. This minigame can last between 1 and 2 hours, or even more.
After all this information, I hope that you all recover confidence in Mortal Night, if you had lost it. If you played the game and enjoyed it, this is the chance to replay it in a proper way, enjoying it a lot more; if you didn't enjoy it, I invite you to try again, the experience is quite better now.
If you didn't play my mod, I think that you should wait for v2.00. You'll discover how good it is now, and I remind you that this mod is standalone, so you won't need to have the original game to play it.
To conclude, I want to thank all my supporters for their feedback, and I want to say sorry to those I couldn't answer because of my lack of free time. I have to admit that I'm quite pessimistic and modest, but if everything works as I think it will, I can't think in a way that Mortal Night v2.00 wouldn't be a "mod of the year" contender.
