D-day! a mod that needs no introduction... but just in case:

D-day is a Would War II TC mod for the highly popular game Red Alert 2: Yuri’s Revenge, is the largest & longest running mod for RA2 to date. With hundreds of highly detailed & accurate units from pre World War 2 to a hypothetical post war. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to fight the good fight on land, sea & air. There are eight playable countries in D-day, as well as several other non-playable ones.

The playable sides are:

  • America
  • Great Britain
  • France
  • Soviet Union
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Hungary
  • Japan

The pride of D-day is the DTX terrain, which completely changes RA2’s cartoony look into a gritty WW2 landscape that has been heavily researched to create an authentic atmosphere. D-day also features maps of such places as Berlin, Stalingrad, Kursk, El Almain & even New York! Created using battlefield maps & period photos to get the highest accuracy possible.

PS: This page is rarely updated, the main site however is updated on a daily basis, please check there for the latest information.

Note the MCV which was made by converting the vxl to a 3D model with VXLSE, a very useful but underused feature of the program.

I'm a bit disappointed with this production anim, I originally planed to make the crane pick up the create & turn 270o & place it where the chimneys are, however I realised to late that it wouldn't be possible with this design because of the way the game handles production anims, so I had to simplify it.

Yes the whole building rotates. Luckily in real life it was stationary most of the time scanning specific areas, otherwise I'd imagine the operators would get nauseous quickly!

Lastly here are the damaged versions of the buildings.

Yuri Revenge Main Executable File not responding...... what happened? What did I mess up?

I follow the instruction installing the mod by putting Ares's Files and D-Day files such as expandmd 45.mix, eachmd45.mix and dday.pkt into RA2 folder.

I tried to launch the RunAres.bat, the bat file run and launch the game and suddenly, it crash...... is my disk to be blamed?

I was able to fix the problem, it seems the old Ares files cause the crash, I've installed the 0.9 Ares, it runs like charm.

So happy to see the mod work nicely :)

Still, Sweden was not in the war. There's other countries you could use in place: Romania, Yugoslav partisans, Slovakia, etc. So long as it's not the exact same arsenal as another nation, it could work.

Also, any missions and tech structures planned?

Romania had 3 unique tank destroyers & 1 plane, everything else came from Czechoslovakia or Germany. All of the Yugoslavian & Slovakian equipment was from other countries.

Sweden on the other hand has enough unique units to fill several nations. I have 6 different tanks to choose from just for the post-war mode etc.

I plan to start work on missions once all the sides are complete, that however may take some time. Tech structures will be included in the next release.

Also, why Sweden? They weren't even in the war. In their place you can choose another country that was involved, like Finland.

Finland didn't produce enough equipment to make it a playable side, some of their units will be available via bonus crates tho.

Sweden however built up an impressive array of weapons during WW2. Many of which were on par or even surpassed that of other European nations. They also sold some of them to other countries, Finland being one of their main clients.

D-Day "See You On The Beach" ****: An Invasion Ten Years In The Waiting D-Day is a project that has been in the works longer than some players have been playing Yuri's Revenge. Since the time that D-Day began to take shape back in 2002, The West has completed it's "War on terror", an African American was elected as POTUS, the Arab World rose up in revolt and Social media sites took over our lives. Indeed the D-Day mod has been in the works for a long time, but finally through the hard-work of it's…
