D-day! a mod that needs no introduction... but just in case:

D-day is a Would War II TC mod for the highly popular game Red Alert 2: Yuri’s Revenge, is the largest & longest running mod for RA2 to date. With hundreds of highly detailed & accurate units from pre World War 2 to a hypothetical post war. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to fight the good fight on land, sea & air. There are eight playable countries in D-day, as well as several other non-playable ones.

The playable sides are:

  • America
  • Great Britain
  • France
  • Soviet Union
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Hungary
  • Japan

The pride of D-day is the DTX terrain, which completely changes RA2’s cartoony look into a gritty WW2 landscape that has been heavily researched to create an authentic atmosphere. D-day also features maps of such places as Berlin, Stalingrad, Kursk, El Almain & even New York! Created using battlefield maps & period photos to get the highest accuracy possible.

PS: This page is rarely updated, the main site however is updated on a daily basis, please check there for the latest information.

Tank Grotte 1000t

News 8 comments

I've spent the past few months working on new terrain for D-day, I decided to take a brake tho and make this little know pre-war tank design with a famous legacy.

User Posted Image

In the late 1920s the Soviet Union found themselves falling behind the rest of the world in tank development. While several projects where in development it would be sometime before they where ready, to help speed things up it was decided to invite experienced foreign engineers. One of the most prominent engineers was Edward Grotte from Germany who worked in the Soviet Union from 1930 to 1931. During this time he designed several different tanks, the most famous of which was the T-22 medium tank. His largest design though was for a 1000 ton land battleship, equipped with duel 304mm naval cannons in a main turret along with secondary turrets armed with 152mm and 76mm guns. Frontal armour was 300mm thick and the sides 250mm, which protected a crew of 40 and multiple naval diesel engines which would produced 24,000hp and propel the colossal vehicle to (an optimistic) 60 km/h.

After his work in the Soviet Union Grotte returned to Germany and became a director at Krupp, in 1942 he once again returned to the idea of a 1000 ton tank with the P-1000 "Ratte".

There will be twelve playable countries in total. America, Britain, France, Soviet Union, Germany, Italy & Hungary are currently available. Japan will be added in the next release & Poland, China, Sweden & Czechoslovakia will be included in future releases. America, Japan & China (will) also have sub-factions.

If you also take into account the 6 different time frames then technically there there will be 80 different possible factions to play as.

It says in the description there is a web page dedicated to this mod? Maybe I'm just blind but I can't find a name or link anywhere so I would appreciate it if someone would point me in the right direction.

Slow but steady :P

Graphically the Japanese side is nearly finished, their UI is the only large thing left to do now. Their code is very rough though & will require sometime to complete.

I'm manly working on new terrain & maps at the moment, I'll make a news post about that in the next few weeks.

Greetings Mig_Eater
Have you ever considered adding a whole "What if?" era?
For example... Adding units that could exist if war continued or if some countries were developing tanks and combat vehicles... That could be nice too. Hope you like this idea... Maybe i can even send you some examples ;).

D-day is split up into 5 "time frames" (pre, early, mid, late & post). In the Post-War game mode you use concept & prototype units in a scenario where WW2 continued on into the 1950's.

Countries such as France & Poland which were defeated during the early stages of WW2 also use concept & prototype units in the mid & late modes, showing what might have been if they hadn't been defeated.

That is not how i meant it actually... I had an idea to make a mod (for yet unchosen game) that will add completely unique weapons and vehicles, but i am not skilled modder or modeller. It was about alternate reality where lots of european countries had more time to prepare for war, which started several years later... It was meant to provide balanced units (especially tanks and aircraft) for lots of countries which affect on WW2 was little to none because of lack of modern equipment and weak army...
Lets take tanks for example... Germany reached pinnacle of tank engineering in WW2 and invented tanks that were fast, heavily armored and were capable of dispatching enemy tanks at extremy ranges. But other countries like Britain and USSR hadnt any tank like this in WW2, not to mention countries like Hungary, ČSR, Poland or Finland, Sweden and Denmark... My goal was to "invent" vehicles and weapons for less developed countries, that would be based on their real life designs and armanent...

I have lots of "blueprints" especially of tanks, but some of infantry weapons and aerial vehicles too... If you are interested to help me with this i will gladly appreciate that... If u dont, I wont be mad...

There where so many real concept & prototype units designed during WW2 that thus far I haven't needed to "invent" anything to fill D-day's what if scenarios.

I dont have time to work on another project but feel free to PM me if you want to discus any ideas.

D-Day "See You On The Beach" ****: An Invasion Ten Years In The Waiting D-Day is a project that has been in the works longer than some players have been playing Yuri's Revenge. Since the time that D-Day began to take shape back in 2002, The West has completed it's "War on terror", an African American was elected as POTUS, the Arab World rose up in revolt and Social media sites took over our lives. Indeed the D-Day mod has been in the works for a long time, but finally through the hard-work of it's…
